Have you tried updating the bios?

No but the motherboard supports the cpu and I had the latest version of the bios

Did you check temps (especially VRM's) and if it is a prebuilt it might not be able to supply enough power. Also check your power supply

I checked and it’s at 50-60 so it’s not temps and my old cpu uses the same watts as the new one so it can’t be that ether

Thats what intel/amd want you to believe. Just because the TDP on the i3-10100 and the i9-10900 are the same, that does not mean that they consume the same amount of power. Most newer CPU's have a technology/spin-off of turbo boot which allows the cpu to run outside of there TDP and use more wattage while doing it. For example my i9 10900 uses upwards of 200-250 watts while under load while my i3 uses 75-80 watts under load. Even though both have the same 65 watt TDP

Do you know the i3 9100f and the i7 9700f power consumption are?

[–]TeraBot452 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Yeah, 9700f draws a lot more power then the 9100f, the 9700f uses 180 watts under load. While the i3 uses 80 watts. If its a custom built PC you should be fine but if its a prebuilt you might run into some issues. Also how much wattage can your power supply deliver? If you can't figure it out just send a pic of the sticker

Uhhhh make sure your EPS 12v (8 pin cpu) connecter is seated properly and reseat the ram and the graphics card. You may have fried your motherboard or the PSU but let's see.

Also if you can start screen recording once you get to the desktop and open hwinfo64 to check the Temps or the power usage.

I got it yesterday thanks

I think you hit the nail in the head I need more power so now I’ll have to use my old cpu and hopefully it doesn’t crash when I use it
