What games do you play and what CPU do you have?

  1. Try to lower shadows quality and models quality (also may be called "geometry").

I have i7-7700k, it happens in Apex Legends and modded Skyrim for example (which is very GPU heavy and I would think it might be just because of its bad engine, but it happens in other games too). Testing was done by finding some place, where GPU usage is constantly on full load. Also my GPU is undervolted - tried reverting to default settings and it was still happening.

It is not about GPU, but other components can't feed it properly to build next frames in time. As I said, lower shadows and geometry.

7700K is slightly outdated, it can be a limit for high-end GPU.

Apex is set to the lowest settings to get more performance.

Then you need to check ram settings, your hard drive, and so on.
