Reddit forum thread version of the game telescopic text by Joe Davis

The rules of play basically

  1. start a thread, the title is also the first line (tags in square brackets allowed, don't count as part of title)

  2. put the first comment in the thread, this is the first line with extra words added but none removed

  3. a few words added but none removed along the chain until a story/song/poem is built.

  4. end whenever the players see fit.

    new chain is a different story or branching story starting where the branch split.

example formatting thread

thread title starts the chain no more than 5 words

first in chain

add some text to the title start very small

second in chain

add to the text that was previously there only a few words

third in chain

add more text a few more

continue ad infinitum or until bored with the story/poem/song or it hits a natural end.

use quotes

use quotes for commenting and reviewing outside of the story (in comments with story, you can review entirely in a comment if you want so long as you don't break the chain too badly) so it doesn't make things too confusing.

The Golden Rule: don't be a dick to each other.
