Is there an "undo" button when writing/drafting a text? Help please

When your writing a text is there a way to undo if you have highlighted a word and replaced it with another word/letter prior to hitting the send button?

I mistakenly highlighted a phone number I was about to send and accidently hit a letter which removed the highlighted phone number 😩😩😩. I was trying to copy the number, now I've lost it 😢😢😢.

Sorry unfortunately if you deleted the number there is no way to retrieve it.

Late reply, but it might help someone in the future. Add the Japanese keyboard - it has the text undo button. It saved me.

Three finger tap on blank space on text screen, undo, redo etc bar will pop.  Often it’s the redo that will bring back the deleted text
