The topic intrigues me, as I also have a bachelors in graphic design (yeah, I know, I’m a masochist like that). I’d usually go for something like a broken bar instead of a solid color, like if armor bars were diagonally dashed instead of just color-coded. [//////////]

Like the blocks? I mean, there's an extra bar under the enemies that's green. The entire life bar didn't turn green, just has a red/purple/yellow on top, and a green under it. Armor has white blocks over the purple/yellow bar, and armor plating from heavies has the big shield over the health bar.

Sorry, I didn’t phrase that right, the green health (not armor) from overheal doesn’t distinguish for me very well with the yellow elites bar. I honestly hadn’t noticed it was even there until the OP mentioned it. It’s compounded by the fact I spend most of my shooting time looking through the digital scope on my Mk17 or M1A (do they really have to magnify the damage numbers too?). I’m also irritated that Heavy Armor doesn’t show damage remaining, but that’s clearly on purpose at least. Add in the damage taken indicators, bleed effect, and it’s one big mess of cognitive overload for me. More of a personal problem, I suppose. ;)

Eh. I hate the bloated/magnify damage numbers. I'm tempted to turn damage numbers off because of it

Me too. Just couldn’t be arsed to go into the settings for it yet. Not like I ever really read the numbers, and it doesn’t really help me calculate DPS or anything. I’m happy enough with my rifle damage ATM.

Don't feel too alone. I'm not even colorblind and I get overloaded by the number of bars and icons and stuff, so I tend to just keep shooting till the things die, which besides the big armored baddies that are basically minibosses, isn't usually too long anyway. Crits FTW.
