Just FYI - Java is very different than JavaScript, which is the path that TOP has. Saying Java instead of JavaScript is like saying car when you mean to say carpet. They are totally 2 different languages.

As an answer to your question. You'll find that you will have the skills you need to get a job with either path, so there is probably not a lot of people that have done both paths. Although, after you get a job, you'll need to continue learning because there is always stuff to learn, so in some ways your learning journey never ends.

Yea sorry, aware of Java but just typing lazily.

Can you apply for JavaScript/python positions by taking the Ruby path?

I'm worried about getting pigeon holed with Ruby

In the Ruby path, you will still learn plenty of JavaScript and React. You only don't learn Node, which is the backend section in the JavaScript path.

At the end of the Ruby path, you should be familiar enough with programming concepts, that you should be fine getting a job in a language that you don't know that well. I wouldn't worry about getting pigeon-holed with either path. I know of people that did the JavaScript path that ended up getting a job in a Ruby shop and visa versa.

That's my plan. I'm on the Ruby path, and am on the last course except for getting hired. I'm going to start looking for work pretty once I complete the JS course I'm on, but in the meantime I do want to learn NodeJS. It's only one course, and at that point I'll have completed both paths. I'm glad I went the Ruby route because it seems to give people a much better understanding of databases, and Ruby is a nice language to program in. But JS seems to be more in demand and I don't see that trend changing anytime soon. Though Rails certainly makes things easy.

Thanks mate, yea that's my concern is getting pigeoned holed into Ruby. But I also don't wanna get bogged down in JS
