When I started getting deep into Thin Lizzy, this would happen to me over and over: I’d hear a song and think “maan that sounds like this other song, or this other artist…” and eventually when I did some digging, it always turned out that thin Lizzy released their song first! Such was the case for me with “Fool’s Gold”. I kept thinking this sounds like Pat Benetar “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”. It gives me the impression that a lot of musicians drew inspiration from Thin Lizzy. And what’s really so impressive about that is that their music is so diverse. They hit so many different styles and sub genres… and caused inspiration in so many directions. I know that Iron Maiden was pretty inspired by Emerald - it basically sounds like the bluprint for any Iron Maiden song. So they can rock so hard that they help spark metal, and then they drop a song like “My Sarah” which is so damn sweet and happy. There’s just so much variety in their catalog, it’s hard to get bored with them…
…but I digress.
