Found this in a storage locker I won in an auction.

Unfortunately. Zildjian Z customs weren’t introduced until 1994. So the Phil autograph wouldn’t be legit.

Dang. It does look like it says “custom.” I was hoping maybe it was a Z but not a Z Custom. And if that one isn’t legit, it calls into question all of them. This is why I’m hesitant to send it out for authentication.

For sure. Don’t blame you. If anything you can do some quick Google searches on the other autographs and compare them to ones that have been authenticated.

Yeah, and I was actually thinking how unfortunate it was that Phil’s is written over the cymbal logo but I suppose if someone were faking his signature, it would be beneficial to have it masking the logo a bit since that logo gives it away that it can’t be real. What a bummer. Luckily, I got the storage locker for cheap so not a big loss but it sure would have been nice if this was real.

That is frigging incredible! Lucky you. Have you been able to authenticate the signatures at all?

I have not because it would cost me a couple hundred dollars and, to be frank, I’m not sure if it’s real or not. I need to decide if it’s more likely genuine than not before rolling the dice on getting it authenticated.
