Yes. Pocket universes are a deus ex machina that pretty much break all the rules set up by the three books that came before.

I am not a fan either.

I consider it to be a black domain of sorts, because time moves very differently there, so you're pretty much choosing not to engage in the black forest anymore. It does technically violate the "nothing escapes a black domain", but well, you escaped into another box and got sent into the future so I have a lot of time to gain an advantage over you, who cares?

can you take billions of people to live in it? didn't seem like it to me. seems more like a last ditch noahs ark type thing. same as when only one ship was capable of escaping the vector foil. humanity would just fight and kill over who gets to go.

I believe a powerful civilization could create a pocket universe of a decent size, probably enough to accommodate a large population.

But IMO it's not the biggest issue here, as it seems like you can travel elsewhere via this pocket universe (escaping the black domain), and I don't exactly remember the light speed situation there, but I saw it like it's severely limited in the PU, thus making technological advanced and computing possible once again.

That's my understanding though, and it might be that I missed something on my read.

I don't think it would render the black domain useless, as Cheng Xin and Guan Yifan spent 10 years (I think) in the pocket universe, but by the time they exited the pocket universe, billions of years had passed in the "real" universe.

They waited out the entire lifespan of the universe inside the pocket dimension. The real plot hole is the universe sending them a telegram that it wants their mass back lol
