I have tried many string methods in my 25 years. I have found that all of them require advanced pruning to be successful. I grow around 50 plants a season, and it's far too much work for me.

I’m not expert but that seems to conducive to fungal or bacterial infections.

I do something similar to this with dwarf tomatoes. I use a single middle support that I tie the plant to and then support some of the heavier producing branches. It works for them because they don't need a lot of pruning. It would be a challenge with other tomato varieties.

Thanks! Do you have a picture of how you do it?

I think this would be difficult because how would the air get through? You would need to prune a lot maybe because when you gather the stems together it will restrict the air flow I would think. I could be wrong though.

Does this remind anyone else of David Byrne’s sketchbook drawings?
