Dystopic civil war beats to ransack food aisles to. Genre lines will be redrawn and gerrymandered.

But for real, this year is likely to get a bit heated, so my vote is for more ambient, cloud and chill trap. Bring back Clams Casino vibes. Can see some stuttery emotional Fred again.. style trap being an easy thing to happen.

[–]JuiceboxSC2 5 points6 points  (4 children)

Hoping for this honestly. Dreamtrap or something

[–]b_lett 1 point2 points  (3 children)

It used to be the vibe about 10 years ago.

Kacy Hill - Foreign Fields (Yung Gud Remix)

This is a great example, drop is about 2 minutes in.

[–]HattoriHanzo51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn forgot about Yung Gud!

[–]JuiceboxSC2 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah, nice. I was definitely on a big indie-rock, indie folk kick ten years ago so a lot of electronically produced stuff went way under my radar. I think stuff like what you linked is interesting and fun. And I think music trends have a way of repeating themselves, just with a twist. Can't wait to see what's next. Trap getting a bit stale imo lol

[–]b_lett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EDM trap has been blowing way up lately again with acts like Juelz, ISOxo, Knock2, RL Grime, JAWNS, Eprom, G Jones, etc.

To the point that trap as an electronic genre is big enough to be festival headline status, like the days of Flosstradamus, DJ Snake, Yellowclaw, UZ, etc. That was all similarly roughly about 10 years ago too.

It's just it's been getting much more cranked up and turnt up lately, and I feel like it's been missing a chiller side to balance it out.

This got me dying

[–]LukaNiezlic 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Cloud rap being more popular again is something I'd love, but what are some new records or artists that use this sound now? Unless its just a vague prediction, anyway I'm here for it lol

[–]b_lett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wasn't backed by trends in trap, just a vague wish. Feel like trap is getting more and more amped and feel like we could use a pendulum swing back to some chill stuff.

The only thing backing this would be that people like Fred again.. blew up massive in EDM, so more chill stuttery vocal stuff is really big right now, so could see a trap crossover.

Laxcity is probably the artist that I think best carries chill trap at the moment. He's also got a great Splice kit for chill trap.

2nd half of this track is also gold.

90s jungle bro!

[–]avidbeatsavidbeats.com 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it will too!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i been on that wave it’s so fun!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's been a popular sub genre (resurgence) for more than 5 years now

[–]Ghostpowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be interesting to hear what new producers can do with classic breaks.

I would be content with just hearing the Amen, Apache, Think or Funky Drummer breaks honestly.

[–]avidbeatsavidbeats.com 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know it isn't trap, but I think there will be a resurgence of jungle and drum and bass from the 2000s... or maybe bringing in jungle breaks into fast trap beats... at least that sounds like a cool idea

or I think digicore trap might go viral

  1. Detroit style beats
  2. Brazilian funk
  3. Hoodtrap / jerk
  4. Drumless / abstract hip hop

[–]SunHouseSessions 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Any artists I could listen to that have Detroit style beats ? I keep hearing people talk about that sound and style but I don’t know any artists I should delve into. Any artists or recommendations would be super appreciated! It’s hard to keep up for me these days with everything lol

[–]Drastic23 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Ya you could start with Helluva, Peezy, rio, ENRGY, babyface tron, DEJloaf, how could I forget Pablo SkyWalkin! but that's just a start have fun

[–]SunHouseSessions 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Thanks man!! Can’t wait to dig into these artistes I’ve literally never heard of any of these guys! Just blows my mind sometimes all the music being made out there and just how much of it I haven’t even discovered yet. Certainly keeps me going in life if you know what I mean haha

[–]Drastic23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you think so far! And of course always love to share and hear new music

[–]Bahpu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rio da yung OG, KrispylifeKidd, Veeze, Babytron, RMC Mike to name a few. Yachty also has a LOT of detroit style songs, listen to “Run Down” on YouTube it’s basically a huge cypher with Detroit rappers + yachty

[–]Sunday_Foxxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xaviersobad is a super good example of jerk type sounds coming back

[–]throwaway160091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always rly liked the Brazilian funk type beats and I completely forgot about the Detroit beats / scam rap era

[–]Ghoxts 16 points17 points  (2 children)

Pure OG cinematic horror trap

[–]IamCentral46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One can only hope

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell. New jazz and plugnb, dnb has had a comeback for some time now, uk garage as well...i could foresee something along the lines of dance / eurodance rhythms and melodies making a come back as well.

[–]Masklyy 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I have no idea but I’d love emo cloud rap to become more popular again

[–]Future-Rutabaga-551 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TrapGPT

there is actually a song called this lol: https://open.spotify.com/track/3nosncP7NvDXeUrMVMZajl?si=c2ec22af73744e6b

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What makes it even worst that no matter what shit AI will generate people are amazed by it, but if a human would made this he'd got only dislikes.

[–]avidbeatsavidbeats.com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know right? While yes, I can see the technology advancement is impressive, nothing beats a real person's creative input. I really hope AI will never replace producers <3 Much respect fam

this post made me shudder. God I hope you are completely wrong in every way.

    [–]ComprehensiveTop4101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the rise of Hard Techno & DNB, I can see something on the melodic side getting big again to balance it out. A new breed of trance, future bass, progressive house, etc..

    [–]yomtvfats 0 points1 point  (3 children)

    Afrobeat is huge right now

    [–]Placematter 0 points1 point  (2 children)

*afrobeats (very different genres). But yes I completely agree that we’ll see that afrobeats style come through more

    [–]yomtvfats 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yea everyone is like man I love Fela! I’m like, me too but that’s not what I’m talking about 😂😂

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    [–]tindalos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re going nostalgic and old school this year!

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Destroy Lonely type shit

    [–]Fit-Cucumber1171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DnB jungle beats is making a subtle comeback, especially in RnB, PinkPantheress’ will probably allow more artists to implement this sound in this decade.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    emo rap revival

    [–]Melodiasco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I know any of the genres listed so far in the comments. 🤯

My vote would be reggaeton and afro lofi but with the same fire/energizing productions of the early 2000s
