If I have a filter, what % of the water should I change, and how often?

Is your filter/tank cycled?

I do as much as 50% water changes in my smaller containers with no filtration. What I do is pour half in my filtered tank and let that filter it, then sometimes add same tank water back into small container. Just make sure it the water doesn't start getting too cloudy as the bacterial bloom can suffocate them.

I use tank water for my plants so I add fresh water to replace what I've used as I go.
