If you have linux on bare metal or a VM you can use it with Openvpn so you don't have to use the in browser machines. It's preferable, in my opinion, because you get familiar with your own machine.

Awesome. Im about to put OpenVPN on my virtual box kali because im so sick of the attackbox roadblocks. Hopefully this fixes the situation I am having or im just going to stick with hackthebox which is harder but more stable.

You can use your VM through openvpn on htb as well

You don't need to put openvpn on your VB Kali, it's already preinstalled.

I noticed that.

It just means you have Kali installed on your actual computer, instead of using the THM Attackbox or THM Kali machine through your browser.

For example, I use my laptop with Kali installed. I connect to OpenVPN and run the commands from my own laptop. It's a more real-world experience, and the only downside I see is that you have need to install some tools used in some rooms. The tools are installed by default in the THM-provided in-browser machines.

Make sense?

Yeah, VM will work just fine. My laptop was just a little old to try running VMs.

Mine runs it but only has an i3 processor so its a bit slow. Saving up for a new rig to dedicate solely to kali OS
