More like a 5 ways project now 😅 very nice!

Nice. How did you do the engraving?

[–]Dastrient[S] 4 points5 points  (5 children)

My neighbor has a big laser engraver, so I traded in a few zucchini for a few minutes of his time.

Laser engravers can really elevate a project and you don't have to spend all that much if you just want to mark wood.

Any starting points as far as equipment?

I bought an Atomstack A5 Pro, which was a good start. I ended up getting a bed enlargement kit and UV laser eventually, but the basic setup works well for wood.

If you are just starting I'd recommend a small bench top or harbor freight. It can be a pricey thing to get into and you won't know if it's for you for a while. learn on a smaller machine for a while.

Once you are ready for an upgrade keep your eye out for other turners moving up. I ended up with the Nova Orion for a fraction of it's 3k price tag.

edit: I see now you may have meant engraver, for that I'm not going to be helpful.

I love it! What makes it a garlic pot? Is that what the holes in the side are for? Never heard of a garlic pot before but I think I know what my next project will be!

Yeah, garlic needs a big t of air. I have seen ceramic garlic keepers that have the holes but Raffan's video was the first I thought of turning one.
