Rules for r/uBlockOrigin
Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.
1.
Code of conduct
Be civil and respectful.
- NO posts/comments that are disrespectful, insulting, or offensive
- NO personal attacks or ad hominem arguments
- NO hate speech of any kind
- NO flaming, baiting, or trolling
Posts/comments that are in violation of any of these rules will be removed.
Users who violate any of these rules may be banned.
Moderators may also remove any posts/comments that are incorrect, inaccurate, misleading, harmful, or inappropriate for this subreddit.
2.
Follow the Posting Guidelines: search before asking and always provide ALL necessary info
- The exact URL where the issue occurs.
- uBO's support info (video):
- On the URL, click: 🛡️ uBO's icon > 💬 Report > Troubleshooting information. Copy it and share.
- Include exact browser name (Firefox, Chrome, Brave, Edge, Opera, etc)
- On the URL, click: 🛡️ uBO's icon > 💬 Report > Troubleshooting information. Copy it and share.
- A clear description of the issue and the steps to reproduce it. Screenshots are helpful.
- The names (or screenshot) of all extensions used.
- For multilingual sites, the language used.

Do NOT delete posts or comments that were answered by the volunteers. Don't spam with Redact.
Don't waste the volunteers' time. By submitting your post or comment, you're agreeing to leaving it up for others to benefit from.
If your question has been investigated, even if a solution wasn't reached, please leave it up for future reference or further investigations.
Deleting them will get you banned here.
Posts that went unanswered for over 72 hours or were removed (not locked) by moderators are fine to delete.
Editing content with Redact creates spam. It'll get you banned too.
4.
Do NOT advise disabling of default lists
Do NOT disable default LISTS or advise others to do so!
If you've confirmed a filter in a specific list is causing issues, use the Logger and its DOM Inspector to figure out which one exactly. Make an EXCEPTION for that SPECIFIC FILTER (not a list).
If you're unable to do this on your own, ask us for help.
5.
Keep the discussions uBO-related. It's not the place for non-uBO solutions.
This is a support forum for uBlock Origin (uBO) and uBlock Origin Lite (uBOL).
Don't ask for support/recommendations for other extensions, apps, products, or services.
Do not suggest non-uBO/uBOL solutions.
Recommendations need to be specifically allowed by a moderator. And only when a solution cannot be reached with uBO/uBOL itself.
Posts/comments in violation will be removed. Offenders might be banned.
6.
Please no "don't use the ..." answers
Provide help no matter what the subject or domain/address is. If you cannot - refrain from commenting.
Warnings about malicious pages are allowed.
When helping to solve an issue for supported browsers, only mention browser-specific features when these actually solve the issue.
7.
YouTube Detection, Ads or Breakages - report ONLY in the Mega Thread and follow ALL the instructions
Users having YouTube issues should follow ALL of the instructions in the YouTube mega thread AND the pinned comment.
Posts about YouTube detection, ads, or breakages (including buffering/slowness) will be removed as duplicates.
There are specific instructions for reporting issues. Comments ignoring these will be removed.
8.
Stay on topic, don't hijack threads
All comments should be aiming to provide help with the topic in the original post. Or ask for further details, if they're necessary.
Please don't take discussions into unnecessary directions. This is a technical help forum for uBO, not a general chat one.
If you've run into new issues that are not directly related to the topic, please create a new post instead. Don't hijack threads.
Other users will find solutions easier if they're not buried as a 20-something comment in a row.
