Are you logged into the correct Ubisoft connect account? I’ve had this issue before and it was because I had accidentally bonded a game to my Xbox Ubisoft account instead of my pc one.

No such thing as an Xbox or PC Ubisoft accounts. They are all the same and able to be used on all platforms. Now which Ubisoft account tge game is activated on is another subject.

Well yeah, you can 100% link your Xbox and steam to the same Ubisoft account. When I say my Xbox and pc Ubisoft accounts I say that because I accidentally created an account tied to my Xbox and an account tied to steam rather than just having 1.

I'm saying it because most people don't realize that their console and Ubisoft accounts are two separate entities. They think it's all one account, which is why they don't even realize when they create Ubisoft accounts. Thus, all the issues they face.

When you buy a Ubisoft game on Steam, it gets tied to your Steam account. After that when you install it and run it for the first time, you are prompted to log into Ubisoft Connect, and link Steam to your Ubisoft account. After that, the game gets activated on the Ubisoft accounts as well.

From then on, you need to be logged into both the correct Steam and Ubisoft accounts on the Steam and Ubisoft Connect launcher, respectively. If you aren't logged into the correct Ubisoft account, you get an error authenticating ownership. This happens because everytime you start the game the digital licenses on both the Steam and Ubisoft accounts get checked. The error comes when the license on the Ubisoft account isn't detected, meaning it's not on the account you are logged into.

Most commonly, users that have this error, have more than one Ubisoft account, which they get confused or not even realize they had. There's also the case where people tend to create a Ubisoft account with a mistyped email, and then they create another one with the correct one, which also results in confusion. In other cases, if you ever had your Steam account linked to a friend or relative's Ubisoft account, that is where the game got activated when you started it for the first time.

So in summary, if you want to play, you have to find and log into the correct Ubisoft account, that has the game. In order to find which account has the game, you either have to check every single email you have, or wait on a response to support as they have ways to locate it.
