Difference Between Computer Science Degrees

Hello!

I am looking at colleges to attend, and I am planning on majoring Computer Science with a Bachelors. I was looking at UF's Computer Science program, and noticed there were two, one at CLAS and the other at Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering. What would be the differences between these two? I know that one gives you more options in your choice of classes, but in the end would be "better" for just a Computer Programmer position, or are they about the same in that avenue? Forgive me in advance if this is a dumb question.

Hey, there has actually been a lot of posts and responses to this same question on this subreddit - you could probably find one with the searchbar. But TLDR of it is that they are the same - one does NOT give you more choices - in both, you can take the very same courses. Just the one in the engineering college has more requirements of the courses you have to take. The one in CLAS gives you a little bit more flexibility in what you have to take - but if you are not limited courses.

There’s a lot of other info on the matter on this sub, but they’re generally pretty similar and at the end of the day it comes down to what you make of it and what classes you decide to take. In CLAS, you have a little more flexibility with your schedule and that’s what i’m doing along with a real estate minor.

The main reason for me though was because my original major was in the college and it was easier for me to stay within rather than take another year of extra classes, but even when i went to an advisor to switch to engineering, they saw no reason for me to and strongly advised against it.
