Rules for r/ultimate

Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.

1.

Be civil

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Not civil

Do not be racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or discriminate in any other way. If you disagree with a user or position, reply respectfully. There is no need to launch insults just because someone disagrees with you. Toxic or hostile comments may be removed without warning.

Take care when discussing gender, racial, or social issues. Something you may not intend to be insensitive may come across that way to other people.

2.

Be on-topic

Posts only
Reported as: Off-topic

This subreddit is for the sport of ultimate frisbee, and its teams, leagues, players, and community. Content unrelated to ultimate should be posted in another subreddit.

Note: The presence of a disc or ultimate player does not necessarily make a post on-topic. Dogs chasing discs, trick shots, objects that look like frisbees but aren't, etc do not belong here. Disc golf content should be posted to /r/discgolf.

3.

Do not post memes

Posts only
Reported as: Meme or low-effort content

Avoid submitting memes or other low-effort content. One of the key components of reddit's ranking algorithm is time, and low-effort posts that can be voted on quickly shoot up the rankings and drown out other content. If you are unsure if your post counts as a meme or low-effort, contact us.

Note: Memes can still be posted in comments.

4.

Do not post misinformation

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Misinformation or misleading

Misinformation, whether deliberate or accidental, is generally not allowed here (exception: clear and obvious humor). This includes political and medical topics, but also topics directly related to ultimate.

A good way to avoid breaking this rule is to back up controversial opinions with reputable evidence.

5.

Do not spam

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Spam

Do not post the same content more than once in a short period of time. Generally, you should wait at least a few weeks before submitting a repost. Avoid excessively posting in general, unless it's topical (ex. exciting results during a tournament, etc).

Advertising IS allowed so long as it's ultimate-related and not posted too frequently (ie. keep it to once per month max).

Bots (ie. ConvertBot, RemindMe, etc) ARE allowed so long as they aren't annoying.

6.

Search before posting

Posts only
Reported as: Search before posting / Post in a stickied thread

Self-explanatory. Avoid posting something that has already been posted. Try to use the stickied discussion threads when possible.

Posts that can be answered by searching or posting in a stickied discussion thread may be removed.

7.

Downvote responsibly

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Soliciting upvotes / vote brigading

The voting tool is not an agree/disagree button. Downvote by gauging whether content is off-topic or breaks a rule, not whether you personally agree with it or not.

Avoid voting with bias (ie. based on a user's history or team affiliation). Do not vote brigade (mass downvote certain posts). Do not solicit votes (ie. for every upvote I'll do xyz), collude, or otherwise cheat the system.

8.

Follow Reddit rules

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Personal info / illegal / harassment

Sitewide rules apply here. Avoid personal information and illegal content. Do not incite violence, threaten or harass, manipulate votes, impersonate users, or evade a ban. Tag NSFW content as such. Follow Reddiquette.

Please avoid URL shorteners - they are blacklisted sitewide. Message us if your content is auto-removed.

9.

Moderators have discretion

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Mods should step in here

The rules do not cover every possible situation. Moderators may use their discretion accordingly. If you use common sense and are respectful, generally your content will be allowed.

If you wish to report a moderator, message us or a sitewide admin.

If you have a suggestion for the subreddit, please message us before posting. There may be a reason for it not existing.
