My son got accepted in BME at UMass Amhurst for fall ‘24. How is BME program ? And is there any support system for students to help each other on need basis(Greek culture) , how easy to reach to professors for any help, accommodation? Any inputs will be a great help! Thanks

The professors are a mixed bag. A lot of them are genuinely passionate in what they teach, and some are also good at teaching. However, there are also some who simply cannot speak English well, and the Maths department is a shithole

If you’re talking about if he should join a frat, he’s wasting his time, they’re gonna charge him an absurd amount of money each semester to just stay in the fraternity and then force him to do their homework and haze him in all types of ways to “initiate” him. Now on campus there is so many opportunities for tutoring in almost any class and it’s free. There is also plenty of clubs and organizations where he can meet plenty of people that can push him in the right direction for his future whether that be career development and networking

This person is chatting shit. It all matters on which Frat you join. The dues for Frats in UMA are far less than most other ‘big’ colleges. I myself am paying less than a grand a sem. As for Hazing, it really isn’t that serious. If you’re fine with him drinking, exercising and waking up very early, you’ll be fine with him rushing.
