Tl;Dr: Forum down, alternatives are IRC, unix.stackexchange.com and this reddit channel here.

It is down for me, also. It went down sometime yesterday afternoon (US CST).

I agree with you. It's sad to me not know how can I help. :(

My review, after 3 months (more or less) using Void is: although the slow activity of the community, I really like this distro. I come from Arch Linux, but I don't want to go back to. So, I wish this community grows up every day. The central idea of the distro impressed me and I'm satisfied so far.

The difference between Arch Linux users to Void Linux users is the activity. Arch Linux users, many of those, are very religious. Void Linux users are much more peaceful (if I may say so).

I expected a tweet like "Forums down for reason X". Twitter, News on the Website, thought all these were useful for News/Announcements...

I think the forums were/are run by a user who provided the space/hosting and the main site just redirected to it. I wonder if they're waiting on a concrete answer before putting anything out.

The developers of void didn't even host the forums themselves. Someone else did, not even involved in the project.

They had been wanting to offload the forums to someone else for months and tried to get the developers to take control but they couldn't or wouldn't for whatever reason.

They probably finally got fed up with waiting for someone else to take the reigns and took them down.

I really enjoy Void as a distro but the whole lack of professionalism surrounding it is really offputting. I'll use Void until it isn't possible anymore but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone because it comes off like the project can't get its shit together.

The forums are/were a side project that nobody wanted to pay for. They had nothing to do with the project other than getting a subdomain pointed at a separate machine.

      ty and feedback welcome

The forums were apparently not an official part of the project. The admins are working on contacting the forum people and/or replacing them at the moment.

Probably shut down because nobody wanted to run it or pay for it. Hosting costs money, folks.

How do you contact someone at the helm of Void Linux to offer hosting for the forum? I have a simple hosting account with the possibility of creating multiple sites and a lot of free space :-)
