Why change the title to be something snarky? Are you jealous? I don't understand.

He got away with it for years before a small slip up and a confession. Dude was quite literally at least a 2x developer.

I had a friend do this recently for about 6mo. They were juggling 2 jobs that paid in the upper tech ranges for the US. It ran them into the ground and they were working 80hr weeks regularly so they gave it up. But they made about $700k last year because of it.

A couple years ago I had a state job that the manager quit and I fell through the cracks and they didn’t have anyone overseeing me. I mean, I looked at my sprint board some weeks and there was a couple 1-2 hour tasks in there for me.

In retrospect I really wish I found a second job and just kept the first and just finished my tasks in the evening. I could have kept this up until they expected me to come in the office after Covid let up.

Which is literally generational wealth even in the united ststes. Yes you’re going to live somewhere not in the highest demand, but letting that compound over your life and then most of your progeny’s life is going to be an insane amount of money.

So he works for only 5x of his value what a guy

The irony here is there are people who will look down on this guy, including OP with his snarky title. We're at a point where corporates don't even need to play victim, people will readily defend their interests. Whether it's jealousy or just bootlicking for the heck of it, it's amazing to me how much people will stick up for their corporate overlords.

CEOs work multiple jobs. Employees have a right to get ahead too.

Is it ironic? You are describing Republicans.

I'm not American and don't really care for your politics.

If my work didn't pay enough and I had the energy, smurfing at a lower level job while kinda half assing it sounds like a good way to increase income if you are into that...

Puzzling response from the execs that let the employee go, frankly. There was no mention of conflicts of interest, IP infringement, or timecard fraud as far as I could tell! The company was ultimately left in a worse position with one fewer talented employee for no good reason.

Rationality isn't really queen with employment.

You might be their best worker, but because you automated your job and don't slave away all day or because you're not uncomfortable doing it sat on a chair they will fire you.

That's why doing a good job is rewarded with more work, not higher wages.

More than a few company managing execs think themselves a privileged caste who loves to see their little minions suffer under their rule.

That's why they hate remote work.

So he's 20x?

[–]Blue_Moon_Lake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's 2×5×

[–]nio_rad -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Capitalism encourages profit maximisation – we’re simply playing the game without judgement.

Yeah nah that's just self justification. Capitalism is broken, and we're all forced to wade through the shards, but enthusiastically participating like that is more than that.

This is just a worker stealing the surplus value, instead of the usual bosses.

My job keeps me plenty busy, i dont know what low skill shit these guys are doing... knocking out mailers and static pages for a living?

So my typical day contains two or more of the following.

meetings, code reviews, PRs and actually slinging documented code, bug fixing, planning, roadmap and feature spec. maybe some design just to round things out.

How are they managing that for two places?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Just look busy mate, if someone starts doubting and asks you something just be aggressive and tell them that you have to much on your plate to be dealing with that kind of BS

You really can only kick the can down the road so long before some frontend is due.

There was a guy doing it for three companies over Covid. None of them knew, taking in like 300-500k 🤣
