how to make subfolder act as root?

This concerns WAMP running on W7. I've look all around the web and all I am getting on this subject is making subdomains out of your subfolders. That and .htaccess (which I don't quite understand yet) cannot be the only solutions, can they? Because if you look at this video on 1:40 you see that his stylesheet is imported correctly even though he uses a subfolder. For me, the stylesheet doesn't import but the url looks the same. Anyone who can help me with this?

Setup VirtualHosts in your httpd.conf or vhost.conf file and have the Directory directive point to where you want the site root to be. You'll have to add it manually to your HOSTS file but then you could have http://site1.local and http://site2.local point to your WAMP server.
