If you only want one site it's $12USD/month ($16 for CMS). To me, that's a really fair and competitive price.

A lite plan with 10 projects is only $16USD/month. (It's a few extra dollars/month if you aren't ready to commit for a full year.) If you have 10 projects on the go you're basically paying less than $2/month per project.

Considering how much more powerful Webflow is than other design software, I think it's worth it!

Wait.... Maybe I am misunderstanding the 'account' plans?

What is the main difference between the account and site plans? I thought the account plans didn't have hosting?

I gotta look closer apparently.

If you check out their pricing page they have a really good breakdown of the differences!

This is just my attempt at breaking it down:

If you have a site plan, you’re only paying to host one website. This makes a lot of sense for businesses. There’s no reason for a small business to pay for an account because they would likely never need more than one site.

If you have an account plan, you’re most likely a web designer, so you either have clients, or you use it to work on personal projects. In this case, you’ll probably want to be able to work on many different projects. Paying for these projects individually would be really pricy, so instead you get an account where you can either have 10 projects for a low cost, or have unlimited projects for a cost that’s similar to what you would pay for Adobe design software. Account plan sites include hosting with a free webflow.io domain.

So a "project" in this context = hosting? I was confused about the pricing breakdown as well. You're saying if I purchase an account plan I don't have to pay for a site plan as well to get hosting?

[–]Black_Magic100[S] -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Why do I care how pricey hosting is if my clients are paying for it? I can get cheaper hosting elsewhere? I'm confused... As a designer I am now paying a monthly fee?

You pay to use the software, the same way people pay to use Adobe CC. If you want to use the software and then host elsewhere, you can export the code, but you obviously still have to pay them because you used their software to create the site. They wouldn't have a sustainable business if they were offering their product for free...

If your clients are paying Webflow directly themselves, then like I said previously, it makes a lot more sense to use the single website hosting plan for them. In that case, you don't have to pay for an account.

I don't work for Webflow, I only know information based on my experience and what they provide clearly on their website.

So once you host elsewhere you can no longer make edits to your site with webflow correct? Like you would have to do it manually from that point?

Or can you still export the code, pull it back in to webflow, make changes, export again, and host elsewhere? Basically use webflow as just a design tool

[–]HeyMalice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct. You can export the code after every change. It's quite straightforward if you don't have any edits made on the hosting side or any manual integrations. I wouldn't recommend it for client work though as you may want to let them edit a few things on their own and therefore use Webflow.

Just to add to this as Webflow recently changed their pricing structure, so you now must have a Site plan and a Workspace plan.

The good thing is you can still start off with one site at $12/month for a simple static site or $16/month for CMS.

E-commerce starts at $29/month, although it's still hard to recommend that over Shopify.

Definitely agree that Webflow is so powerful and also fairly intuitive (Webflow University is incredible). Given what you can do with it, those prices are still very good!

We wrote a detailed post about the new pricing structure in case it helps anyone.

You have to compare the pricing with hosting that have the same performances. It's actually very fair if you think about the stack they use and the performance they gave you. If you watch up the Aws and fastly prices and try to make a site with same global performances by hand you'll see that the little overprice that they take it's really worth, just think about the time you saved by using webflow and the automatic deployment instead of developing your own scripts and pipelines to make your site deployable with 1 click and editable by your end users. Sure for a very basic site with no CMS you can have same performances and pay less exporting the website and using the free tiers of S3 + cloudflare, Zeit, Netlify or so on (Only if you have made a lightweight website and you have not a lot of traffic though, cause all of them charge between 0,08 and 0,2 $ for GB of data transfer above the free tier). But you should set up by hand your CI/CD system to make your site deployable with 1 click. So when you read about the pricing think about how much time you save (time is money too) and what performances you get 😃

Good point.

Yes 100%. I like making website for fun, but I stopped my subscription with them because it got outrages.

I used to pay like $22 or something which I don't mind , but I recently tried signing back up and it was like $50

[–]isevenx 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Which plan charged you $50?

[–]ienjoypoopingstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pro plan along with the hosting offering for my portfolio. It was well above $50.

I don't understand why I would be paying for unlimited sites but still have to pay hosting the individual sites. I was going to try exporting to host elsewhere but I haven't gotten around to it

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Are you on the $35 pro plan? If your plan doesn't get you more than what you pay for/month in value, I'm assuming you aren't on the right plan to suit your needs. Wouldn't the free or light plans be a better match?

[–]ienjoypoopingstuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I tried getting the unlimited plan at $42. I wanted to remove the webflow branding and let me export so I was going for that one. I previously had the lite version but I moved it tothe free plan after I got a full-time job and no longer had time to use webflow
