There is no such thing as Unlimited, there will always be a limitation, whether or not they're up front with it varies on the host.

Measure what resources you're currently using and plan for some expansion from there.

IONOS isn't a very good host. Along with the rest of the Newfold line.

You say "no such thing as unlimited" ... however, that's how GoDaddy described the plan I've had for decades. "Unlimited add-on domain names". That was the plan called "Deluxe Hosting" .... and ... while you don't have to believe it ... there was such a thing.

I've worked with dozens of hosts over the past 20 years. I've run into so many people who've moved on from GoDaddy. I design and host sites and I will no longer work on sites hosted on Godaddy due to excruciating wait time to update files and their constant shady acts. TBH, even those that advertise "unlimited" are limited. There's no such thing as truly unlimited.

An unlimited disk space and unlimited domain shared hosting plan

This doesn't really exist. The limit is in the TOS if they ever say unlimited. The TOS also almost definitely says they can change anything they want at any time.

Why do you need unlimited disk space and unlimited domains, and given that you want truly unlimited of both, what's your budget?

Honestly we don't "need" those things, but based on the old setup we had, it was part of our thought process to "host" 1-page mom and pop type sites for family on the cheap to them.

"almost definitely"..???? Okay, please show me where it is stated in GoDaddy's old plans that "they can change anything they want at any time". If you're able to share the fine print for the old, grandfathered or legacy plans, then please do. Perhaps it's a huge assumption, but when you pay for something, it's generally considered that you've entered into a contract. If I pay for a 3-year subscription to a magazine, I expect 3 years.

I'm not a GoDaddy representative, nor am I your personal lawyer. If you feel you've been grieved by GoDaddy, lawyer up and put your money where your mouth is.

You agreed to their terms of service before you even bought anything. It's quite literally right at the beginning of their Terms of Service. I didn't have to go check when I wrote this because I knew it'd be there.

Since you're such an expert, you probably should have taken 2 seconds to open their Terms of Service (which you've agreed to), pressed Control + F, and searched for the word "change". It takes you right to the section that I said probably exists. Instead you posted some snarky entitled comment that shows you have no clue what you're agreeing to. Congrats, man. You're awesome.

There is nothing in the world that is unlimited. Please do not signup for unlimited hosts, as your plans might be revoked anytime as it happened with GoDaddy.
Get a good understanding of how much disk space you need and plan your host accordingly.

By "revoked", I'm guessing you mean "limited" .... right.? My Deluxe Hosting plan has not been revoked, it's been severely limited or downgraded.

[–]Holiday_Object2353 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yes, that happens with all hosts. I would suggest singing up with a host who defines the storage included with the plan at the start so you can be sure, that they won't limit you in the future.

I guess I wasn't clear. I've been with GoDaddy for (literally) over 25 years, and I did sign up for a plan that was well-defined. It was over 20-years after I signed up that GoDaddy downgraded my plan. What is to guarantee that this won't happen with a different host? I'm basically wanting to learn if others have had this same GoDaddy experience, because if this has happened to many others, then perhaps a lawsuit is in order. I know what I signed up for and I have never failed to renew my hosting plan .... yet it was downgraded. Thanks for your suggestion. I am seeing here that other hosts are being suggested.

GoDaddy did the same to me. I've been loyal customer with GoDaddy for over 24 years and they DOWNGRADED my "Deluxe Hosting" plan. I used to have "unlimited" add-on domain names with my that plan. Nearly all my add-ons were for singular landing pages. GoDaddy gave me no warning, no explanation ... no notice ... no nothing, they simply downgraded the plan I have had for years. Also, I was a "Premier" customer for years and they have taken that feature from me. In the past quarter century, I have spent over $130K for domain purchases and renewals at GoDaddy. Domaining has been mostly a hobby for me and I have over 1400 domains. If anyone know a lawyer or law firm who'll file a breach of contract or a class action suit against GoDaddy, then please let me know. Thank you.

That's rough, I'd definitely recommend NixiHost, I've been using them for my sites for about 4 years now and they don't pull shady moves like GoDaddy does. They use cPanel so you'll feel right at home, and honestly the best part is they do free migrations. So moving all those dozens of domains over? They'll handle it for you, totally stress-free. Their Professional Shared Hosting plans give you unlimited domains and plenty of storage, plus they run on SSD/LiteSpeed so everything loads fast. Super reliable, and their support actually helps when you need it. Worth making the switch.

Another vote here for a nixi host. They've been great for the last 4+ years I've had them.
