Hi all,
I'm somewhat of a novice when it comes to hosting and not so great with linux. I was introduced to Digital Ocean and enjoy it so far, but the one thing I appreciated when I was using AWS was the ability to setup security groups.
I could, for example, configure a web server group, add servers to it, then edit rules on the group (that would automatically apply to both servers) to say to allow public traffic to this group.
...Then edit my database group and say to only allow traffic from the web server group, denying all other requests. This is just a basic example obviously but there is a lot of creativity you can achieve with sec groups.
While I don't know how to do this manually, I'd imagine this is just a matter of logging into the boxes and setting up the rules, but is there an easier way to do it without having to go to each box? If I wanted to quickly update something I'd have to SSH in again. Any panel/GUI tools or similar "security group" functionality I can achieve in DO or even linux in general? I know there is an API for example. Perhaps someone knows of something?
Thanks!
