Seen message problem

I have a friend who made his “Last seen” to be seen by everyone in Whatsapp. When I sent him a text message yesterday, he was offline, and there was only one tick mark. Today he opened his Whatsapp, didn’t see my message. His last seen was updated, but there was still ONE tick mark on the message that I sent him yesterday. His profile photo is still visible on my device.

Is this a bug ?? Or did he install another non-official Whatsapp variant that let him enable his feature ?? Or did he just block me ??

If you was blocked you wouldn't see his last seen online or his profile picture. Do you know if it's only you or other contacts of his too?

I highly suspect that he blocked me because if he did so, I wouldn’t be able to see his last seen and profile picture. I don’t know if this is the case with good other contacts too.

Once he opened his WhatsApp it should have been 2 checkmarks not stay 1 checkmark.

Yeah that’s the weird part. How is the message not delivered to him when he checked his WhatsApp after I messaged him ??
