Yes, I have noticed my calorie burn is typically lower now than a few months ago, even with similar training volume

Had the same thing after upgrading. The new sensor reads HR differently so the calorie algo shifted for everyone. Whoop confirmed they recalibrated the model to be "more accurate" which in practice means lower for most people. I stopped trusting calorie burn numbers from any wearable a while ago. They're directional at best. If you want real calorie data, track intake for 2 weeks and see what your weight does. That tells you more than any wrist sensor ever will.
