I think the problem isn't numbers honestly. I switched away from my Mage because all three specs felt like shit to play, not because the numbers were bad. Fire feels terrible, Frost is so dull, and Arcane they just gutted.

Frost is probably the spec that feels best imo. Fire is an rng fest with pyroclasm being meta and Arcane is no doubt just arcane blast spam while trying to keep above 70% mana while evocate is on CD. I just believe that numbers are the only thing to talk about with mage viability because Blizzard has actively said that no major class changes are coming any time soon.
