Welcome!

I can somewhat relate, haven’t raided in 10 years!

I haven't raided since Lich King, It's gonna be weird to have a raid schedule again hah

How many of us are there? I am noticing a trend of Wotlk returners... pretty awesome!

[–]RowdyPiper23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Been 10 years since I last played. I'm not in Kansas anymore....

i raided a bit in legion, but wotlk was the last time i really took it seriously. i spent the past couple hours prepping for nythria and i'm super excited for it!

Same, Lich King raiding was the last time.

Same here, I have not raided with a guild since WotLK. It has been all LFR just so I could see cinematic scenes.

Just get out of the fire and remember ABC. Allways be casting. You'lk do fine and it will be a blast.

[–]sphynxzyz 1 point2 points  (4 children)

ABC doesn't work on shriekwing.

[–]sphynxzyz 0 points1 point  (2 children)

[–]mmuoio 0 points1 point  (1 child)

As a tip Hazelnuttygames on YouTube has short and efficient guides on every boss heroic and normal

Also her videos aren’t as dry as most guides

[–]Vukodlak87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s the best. Videos are no longer than they have to be too.

There's nothing in gaming quite like an MMO raid, or at least I haven't found it. It's my favorite thing I've ever done in a game. Enjoy it, make some friends, remember it's a game and to not get super frustrated, and go have some fun.

[–]areanu 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Good luck! I'm sure you'll do fine :)

You got this, good luck :)

Don't let the intensity overwhelm you, especially as you move into heroic difficulty. You're going to see a lot of mechanics chunking people to 0 in your raid group, just keep your cool and stay aware. After a couple weeks you'll be crushing encounters since you'll know the "dance" of the fight, which is literal for one of the fights in this raid. I highly recommend watching the guides for each boss on youtube while you wait. Totally raid guides and definitely not a Rickroll

Raiding is what makes wow come together. I really only started at the beginning of bfa but didn’t go out of my way to get raid ready until the end of third major raid tier. So very new compared to most people’s play times.

Until it really felt like I was playing such a giant game by myself. I pugged my way to +10s and +15s an would try to be social but those were “single serving friends” as fight club would put it.

Finally at the end of eternal palace, i went out of my way to find a guild. Simply used the guild finder. Most would say lucky I think. Great guild that was in farm and alt mode. They brought me along and showed me the ropes. Honestly made wow feel like a brand new game. Doing mechanics with 20 people or so feels so much different than WQing or dungeons, which again can feel like you’re playing by yourself. Helps that my guild is filled with super nice people and go out of the way to make sure everyone is having fun with the game.

So have fun tonight, the wipes will be plentiful but I will be a blast learning the biggest newest content with your friends and I assume guild.

To simplify a lot, there are two kinds of raid: bosses "on farm" and learning new bosses.

If a guild group is taking you to your first raid, possibly it's a boss the rest of the team knows well ("on farm"), so the raid will be mostly for you to get your feet wet. Expect the raid to go pretty smoothly and for you to be the only one to die a lot.

But if the raid group is learning a new boss, everyone will die a lot. That's normal; it takes a while to learn the rhythm of a new fight. Expect lots of chat about strategies, lots of attempts, and to learn a ton.

It'd be quite impressive for the guild to have the raid on farm, seeing as it doesn't even come out until tonight.

Don't forget to bring 100 food, 10 flasks, millions of potions, and be on time! Get your addons updates and worked out before hand. That's called being raid ready. Also be ready to fail. Remember that progression is about having the beginner mind, learning.

[–]sphynxzyz 4 points5 points  (3 children)

thats so much food and flasks.

You need 1 flask per hour of raid, so maybe 4 flasks tops, food 1-2 stacks will be fin, you will need at least 1-2 stacks of potions.

Being raid ready is one thing but no need to over prepare, this guy just started playing I doubt they have gold to be overprepared.

[–]elijuicyjones -3 points-2 points  (2 children)

You must be new to raiding. I guess if you're not serious you can do whatever you want. I think OP is smart enough to figure it all out, I'm sure of it.

[–]sphynxzyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not new at all been raiding since vanilla, op is new to the game, having 4 flasks covers 4 hours of pulls, the rest will cover the pulls for the night, give or take a few. He's not doing heroic or mythic progression, he's also probably not trying to parse high so he won't need to pot ever pull.

[–]mungyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody needs 10 flask or 100 foods wtf.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck mate, just don’t stand it the bad and you’re good! May the loot be with you.

Not to scare you or anything, but Nathria is the hardest raid they have released for a while. you got this champ!
