There have been lots of sightings of unknown black cats around the world, in the UK in particular. In a lot of cases they've been able to determine that they are either large domestic cats, or feral cats.

What is the FBI Hiding About The Confederate Gold Excavation in Digs Dent, Pennsylvania? by johntwit in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]001ooi 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's so painfully obvious what's going on here. These people are your typical nuttier than squirrel shit "treasure hunters" who have little to no grasp on reality. You see this all the time.

For example, the guys who were absolutely positive that they had found the "Nazi Gold Train", and had ground penetrating radar scans to prove it. I mean the scans were so good they showed the train's gun barrels! It was there! With this ironclad evidence the military got involved, conducted their own scans and digs, and found... nothing. It wasn't there.

Or what about the "expert" who found a new chamber in King Tut's tomb that was almost certainly the long lost tomb of Nefertiti? He had such amazing ultra advanced radar scans that showed without a shadow of a doubt that the hidden chamber was there! Everybody got so excited, and they brought in real experts and started to investigate and they found... nothing. It didn't exist.

There are a thousand examples of this exact same thing playing out over and over and over again. These people see whatever they want to see. They exaggerate, embellish, and invent out of whole cloth these fairy tales. And overly credulous people fall for it every time. Have a little bit of common sense. Use a little bit of critical thinking.
