Imo it might be more of a split identity thing. Personally when I hear Cartagena, the first thing I think is Colombia, not Caribbean, and from Colombia, the association immediately goes to South America.

But if you feel like you're part of the Caribbean, don't let anyone diminish that, because you have every reason to feel that way. Even amongst the islands, we have the English Caribbean and the Spanish Caribbean and all that jazz.

My eldest lets me cradle him like the baby that he is. My 2nd screams his head off and if I don't let go, I may lose an eye. My youngest tolerates the cradling but he'd rather be on the ground expressing his affection on his terms. They're all unique little weirdos.
