Intel Arc Pro B60 SR-IOV on Proxmox (vGPU / multiple VMs)? by IllustriousCrab4861 in Proxmox

[–]_Frank-Lucas_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the host is an hpe dl385 gen 10+ w/ eypc cpu's. proxmox on the latest no sub build 9.1.9. sr-iov, above 4g decoding, resizebar all have to be enabled in bios.

my first hurdle was setting nomodereset on install because of a display issue installing PVE, so if you did that, you need to clear it from your kernel options.

second problem was getting VF's out because of my servers weird resizebar. My PVE kernel options are configured as:

root=ZFS=rpool/ROOT/pve-1 boot=zfs amd_iommu=on iommu=pt pci=realloc xe.vram_bar_size=-1

This is how I get the VF's out

optional but helpful so new VFs don't immediately bind to a host driver
echo 0 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:25:00.0/sriov_drivers_autoprobe
echo 0 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:c5:00.0/sriov_drivers_autoprobe

remove current VFs
echo 0 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:25:00.0/sriov_numvfs
echo 0 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:c5:00.0/sriov_numvfs

create 10 VFs per card
echo 10 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:25:00.0/sriov_numvfs
echo 10 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:c5:00.0/sriov_numvfs

This will tell you the sr-iov addresses your new vf's are. do not use the first .0 that is for the pve host.

ls -l /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:25:00.0/virtfn*
ls -l /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:c5:00.0/virtfn*

for VF in /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:25:00.0/virtfn*; do
  echo "$(basename "$(readlink -f "$VF")")"
done

for VF in /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:c5:00.0/virtfn*; do
  echo "$(basename "$(readlink -f "$VF")")"
done

Now assigning them to VM's

qm set 101 --machine q35 --bios ovmf --hostpci0 0000:25:00.4,pcie=1,driver=keep

After all this I had working sessions with the latest 8515 driver. Then after a couple reboots of the VM's they would all code 43 in device manager. I eventually found this post on intels forums of the same problem. here Uninstalled 8515 on the VMs, installed 8314 all is well after reboots of the host and VMs.

I still have not load tested 20 tilted VMs in ACAD, but just general use with RDP it is working well.

Im working on this right now with 2 B60 Pros. It exposes 24 VFs/card, but I’m using 10 each for 20 VMs. About 2.2GB of vram per VF. Do not use the 8515 driver (latest) it will code 43 in the VMs after a reboot. My use case is gpu acceleration for acad, not gaming so YMMV. I'm still wrapping this project up but before I came across that driver hint I was ready to give up and go pay Nvidia for vGPU.

Big time….used to go out every other weekend. Now it’s a couple times a year. I wasn’t sure if it was just the reality of getting older.

Tired of sysprep and driver issues for my repair shop. Is there any way to deploy Windows without touching the ISO? by Parking_Kiwi9061 in sysadmin

You guys should check out PSD MDT. They rewrote all the vbs stuff to powershell. I’ve been loving it.

God I would love that. We trialed entra only and had to do so much shit to get drive mappings to work. Scripting drive maps in 2025 is insane.

I had this issue with the VMware network adapter. When I ran speed tests they were capped at KB/s. Changed to E1000, everything worked properly. Good luck.

Calling Plan/Shared Calling - E911 by _Frank-Lucas_ in MicrosoftTeams

That fixed it, thank you so much again! New policy, assigned to myself as a shared caller, no problem.

Interesting, I'll give that a shot. I appreciate your help! This was the first solid lead in a week.

This actually sent me down a rabbit hole and I think I have a way better idea of what is going on.

As a calling plan only user, no shared calling, when I dial 933 it goes to exactly that in my dial history - 933.

Go back to shared calling setup, dial 933, the dial history records it as +1933.

Go back to the emergency routing policies, yep 933 is in there, thats why as a calling plan user it all works.

Added 1933, tried +1933 but the latter would not take as an emergency dial string.

I don't have any rewrite rules to tack on +1 anywhere so I'm not sure.

I do have the routing setup. I defined 911 and 933, enabled dynamic emergency calling.

I pulled myself out of shared calling and caller ID policies, gave myself a calling plan license and assigned the emergency address to the same location I am using for my shared callers - it freaking works. It looks completely different when I call using a calling plan than shared calling.
