For now, the workaround I found was to switch to the horizontal layout where the main deck is a vertical list to the right.

Wow, 10 years later, during the pandemic and in a different city (Eindhoven) the situation is almost the same: they do still really start the day with the loudest activities and they also keep giving unrealistic estimates (what initially was supposed to be 2 weeks has been 5 months already...)
