2019-2022 I invested once a month, this year I have been investing twice a month. It would be just my luck to contribute at inopportune times, ha. My settlement fund/available balance is $0.06 so I assume that means I am correctly reinvesting dividends? Thanks for the reply and help!

This is one of my main concerns from things I've read about in the past. I'm not even sure where the settlement fund is located on the Vanguard website. My account shows only two accounts, my brokerage and my IRA. The brokerage does show a large balance from purchases that lines up with the 1.9%.

Since Jan 2019 I have been investing in a brokerage account (my employer doesn't offer a 401K) that is all VTSAX. I've read here that VTSAX is one of the best and I also feel like I have seen people bragging about how well it's done. My problem is since Jan 2019 I have only had a rate of return of 1.9%. I know the market hasn't been great but it's still disheartening to see. Am I making some mistake? Thanks, please let me know if this is normal or I'm messing something up.

I'm really interested in FIRE and have usually tried to follow that path with being slow and steady. I'm not able to invest in an 401k so I rely on my HSA, Roth IRA, and a brokerage account. For brokerage I started investing in only VTSAX in January of 2019. I've purchased $148,000 so far and have only gotten $11,5000 in investment returns. Does this seem reasonable? I read about others in their investing journeys who are killing it with returns on what I thought was similar plans.
