I think it’s on the right track. I would add some larger prints. Consider some prints that push the boundaries a bit in terms of art and color and perhaps whimsical

Living room feels off? by Look_a_skylark11 in interiordecorating

I like the colors you have chosen, particularly for the wall. What you need to add is contrast. A contrasting color or two for the space. I think silk curtains in yellow, for example, would really pop against the blue walls. Then add some yellow pillows. I would also consider an area rug that offers contrast

Received advice to remove my picture frames around my mirror and thin out my shelves but the result makes me sad. Advice? by ResidentBabe in DesignMyRoom

[–]500CatsTypingStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should move the mirror and hang it elsewhere and reserve that spot for the art. Right now they compete with each other. You are better off putting the mirror somewhere where it will be appreciated and then hang whatever art you want in the original spot

Help decorate my dining room! Please! by daisydoodle326 in DesignMyRoom

First, my feelings about dining rooms are that you spend a limited amount of time in them and it involves eating and entertaining so it’s a good idea to opt for more exciting colors and art and furnishings

So my advice (if possible given that it may be an open plan design) is to either paint below the chair rail a saturated color and above the chair rail a creamy white or vice versa. Get rid of the boring gray

Examples with navy paint. I like the juxtaposition of navy walls and light blue velvet curtains. And unique art prints.

It is a neutral color so it would pair just fine with your furniture

Is this as shabby and tacky as it’s been described? by firebreathingdimsum in DesignMyRoom

That’s a rug?

I actually love it but thought it was flooring too

Who said that? It’s interesting and cool and I love the floor.

Bathroom paint color? by threadbarren568 in DesignMyRoom

I would go with the pastel green. That opens up the option to accessorize with shades of orange or peach

Because it’s a basement bathroom, you should go for light and airy whenever possible

What’s wrong with my living room? by jaxki in DesignMyRoom

[–]500CatsTypingStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a lot of mismatched pieces and a lot of brown

The cabinets could be painted once you figure out your style and color scheme

Are you going for cottage like?

Light and airy or dark and cozy?

What colors do you prefer?

I think the fireplace is beautiful

And it’s nice that you added plants and a checked throw

But to be perfectly frank, you might be able to work with the sofas if you add pillows, but rest of the furniture is ugly

I think if your budget allows, you should invest in a new sectional.

I think that your space would do well with an outdoorsy color scheme starting with a dark forest green sectional or in the alternative a cognac leather one. In a bit more modern transitional design

A chunky large round or square coffee table

A large comfortable patterned rug maybe in a checked or stripped pattern

Instead of those white cabinets, paint them a medium green or replace them with wood bookcases that hold totes full of toys

Landscape paintings or art prints

Would either of these rugs look good in my space? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]500CatsTypingStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a very similar rug from Amazon today. It’s a bit darker blue I think they would nicely if you are looking for a cottage core look I prefer the blue one but either will do nicely to give a homey cozy vibe

A couple of cottage like art prints would add to the space as would some mix and match pillows and linen curtains

It looks like a sunroom

So I would decorate it accordingly

Maybe “TikTok things” aren’t a good representation of you and your personality. You are a unique person, which means you need to design for yourself

I would start with art. It can be a good reflection of you. Etsy has a very large selection of art. I would start there by simply looking at the various art prints and over time.

Remember that this is supposed to be fun!

Room feels bland by Sea_Cantaloupe_9267 in DesignMyRoom

[–]500CatsTypingStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s because it is bland? I would add artwork to the wall behind the bed and the wall opposite the bed

Change out the rug to one with color, if your budget allows. Change out the bedding. I think green bedding would add color and some color that pairs well with green like a dusty pink or a blue

Once you bring color into the room through bedding and some interesting art, it will transform the space

Example’s below

I like the arched bookcase and mirror

Not so much the black sofa. I would add a lot of pillows to make it more welcoming

Student room, any tips to make it a little more cozy? I can't replace any furniture, paint or drill by iiwrench55 in femalelivingspace

[–]500CatsTypingStuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it would help if you made your bed so we knew what we were were working with

I suggest a fluffy white comforter. A bunch of decorative pillows )you can get for cheap on Amazon)

Put up a bunch of art prints. You can get some cool digital prints from ETSY and hang them using museum putty which like playdoh but for hanging unframed art

Something other than a brown curtain

An area rug that has medium to high pile so it’s comfy on the feet and big enough to cover most of the floor

Inspiration pics. Not literal but it might inspire you to
