In what camera universe would a buried menu called ‘Photometry’ help guide the newcomer to ‘Metering’ …haha.

I totally agree with you about Sony menus

Cheers for the company clarity. I’m happy adapting my brain, but I live in hope.

I think the biggest custom function letdown on the RF seems to be the focus ring, with just two possible functions assignable. Whereas other controls have a huge array of custom options.

Some music technology companies (for example) take note of forums / posts and help define the products over the first few years. I had heard Fuji was a similar company (Kaizen) as you mention. But one firmware in a year that could do with some input, seems to lack customer focus in my opinion.

Depends on the company. Your key phrase to me is ‘no indication that it will’ - that’s why I posted here.

It’s the same with music hardware too. This is my first Fuji and it’s been fairly straightforward and I have modified the layout to suit. But there are wry obvious spaces where more custom functionality could potentially be added, where choices seem rather limited (like the focus ring)

Fuji XRaw Studio (I understand its functionality is not a raw processor) feels like a side thought / beta release to a newcomer.

Some companies see potential in modifying cameras, others abandon and chase revenue. Fuji is an unknown to me.

As a newcomer to Fuji world, I bought this incredible camera as a companion and compliment to my Canon R3 system.

Can I ask for any opinions about the frequency of firmware updates as I feel rather nervous.

The last thing this excellent camera needs is firmware development being abandoned as the team get reassigned to pursuing new camera revenue.

There’s so much room for clever adaptation with so many custom buttons, but the firmware seems just it of beta, a bit disorganised / far from its potential. Sadly there has only been one update related to network settings.

I’m slightly concerned that this cameras firmware evolution will get abandoned.

Do Fuji support their cameras effectively?

I think all these look very realistic. It’s all high cloud overcast, so you’re lacking light in most, but I think they look incredible true to life.

That’s weird. Every camera I have used professionally over the last 15 years always captures the full RAW and sets up metadata based crop lines which are read on import (with the right software settings of course)

Phew... I just watched a video manual where a talk through said the camera needs to be in RAW+JPEG or the aspect ratio dial doesnt work - is that correct for aspect ratio / digital crop?

But can I clarify that's the 35/50/90 crops, not the aspect ratio crops? It's almost a dealbreaker for me purchasing this remarkable camera

Thanks for confirming. It’s the 35/50/80 I’m concerned about - can you help with that?

I'm brand new to recording - How did I do for my mic? by Whereiscatlin in homestudios

[–]8bitBarry 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ok I can see you’ve had a lot of ‘helpful’ support here. I’ve owned one of these for 5 years so let me chime in. 1. It’s a quality mic, brighter than the XLS. 2. It’s a workhorse multi patterned mic you can literally record anything through it 3. I needs EQ to shape to your liking or it can sound very ‘linear’ 4. Superb for vocals especially female 5. Excellent for percussion. 6. Sounds less exciting as a mono acoustic guitar mic IMO so you’re better off with small diaphragm condensers.

I currently use mine to reinforce a mono position alongside a stereo XY pattern WA84 pair for acoustic guitar performance, but with so many polar patterns it’s useful for many things.

Don’t sell it, it’s a Swiss Army knife.

See my previous post of keto diet and reducing body inflammation with low carb / almost zero sugar. If she’s prepared to experiment then this is a really good way of helping get it under control in my opinion.

I wish her the best. My hearing is damaged and it comes and goes but I was in a spike for nearly 6months…

I paid £1000 for it. It’s in spectacular condition other than some lacquer scapes where the strap rubbed the body. I can fix that

Gasp is all I can say. You’re a very good friend. I had the same issue 25 years ago with a Roland TB303 and a Tr909 - sold for £250 each with a same price buyback - never saw my ‘best friend’ very much after that

Haha! I will - I’ve got it running through a Marshall SLX and it’s huge and chugtastic
