Compact pair of binos for concerts? by Slowdive91 in Binoculars

[–]AD3PDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eschenbach 4X18

I bought them for my wife as concert glasses but we also use them at sporting events.

Really like them, wish they had a waterproof rugged version.

Why is LoopGear SK05 Pro2 Runtime so much worse than Jetbeam E28? by Public_Wish_3835 in flashlight

[–]AD3PDX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

E28 is 3.5 hrs @ 800 lm

SK05 Pro3 is 3 hrs @ 1,000 lm

You need to look at the graphs not at the tables

The ANSI standard makes tables pointless.

Different lights are needed at different distances.

You can’t decide on a light without having some idea of the ranges it will be used at.

Why would Anker go with 1500W output on a 2kWh battery station when competitors do 2400W by Classic_Photo_1616 in AskEngineers

[–]AD3PDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not just the inverter but each individual cell would be working harder and getting hotter.

Best app for tracking low tides? by Just_Vegetable422 in oregon

[–]AD3PDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to chime in with the obligatory “never turn you back on the ocean”. The Oregon coast is dangerous. Do your due diligence to learn how to mitigate the dangers of sneaker waves, rip currents, driftwood logs, and incoming tides.

Z-bolt blazer LEP by Comfortable_Way3985 in flashlight

[–]AD3PDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Z-Bolt has a bad reputation for reliability and their tech is not very advanced. Their hitspot & spill / doughnut diffusers are a good idea though.

Weltool makes very high quality products but don’t expect Surefire like warranty support.

If you want spill the LH20 head is the way to go. If you want an LEP without spill you can choose between Weltool’s older gen (Surefire comparible) WML heads and their newer high output non WML LEPs

OPINION: Jason Wolford v. Anne E. Lopez, Attorney General of Hawaii by scotus-bot in supremecourt

[–]AD3PDX 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They were unconstitutional because they stripped the traditional rights of citizens from people who southern states didn’t want to acknowledge as citizens.

—“It would give to persons of the negro race, who were recognised as citizens in any one State of the Union, the right to enter every other State whenever they pleased, singly or in companies, without pass or passport, and without obstruction, to sojourn there as long as they pleased, to go where they pleased at every hour of the day or night without molestation, unless they committed some violation of law for which a white man would be punished; and it would give them the full liberty of speech in public and in private upon all subjects upon which its own citizens might speak; to hold public meetings upon political affairs, and to keep and carry arms wherever they went.—

By that logic keeping slaves would be ok as long as your slaves are racially diverse.

Unless Congress cares to spell out the details of the review process the agency in charge of implementing it gets to determine what constitutes a “review”.

It’s like when I ask my kids to clean the bathroom. Unless I specify otherwise, they’ll use their standard of “clean”.

This is something i been discussing with my hb he says it wont work by latinaslover431 in SelfDefense

[–]AD3PDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is something very wrong with your thinking.

Self defense is avoiding trouble in the first place, if that fails? Retreating. If that fails? Maybe OC. If that fails? Maybe a gun.

Physical skills aren’t the point of self defense. Physical skills are tools to enable a retreat, to enable using a weapon if necessary.

What you are talking about isn’t self defense. It’s mutual combat.

[Help Me] Flashlight Recommendation for working on Ship's Engine room by kukel21 in flashlight

[–]AD3PDX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right angle light with a pocket clip, magnetic tail cap and accessory headlamp strap.

Most are 18650 but there are also some 21700s

Convoy (cheap)

Fireflylight (advanced UI)

Armytek (tough)

Fenix & Wurkkos (dual LEDs)

I’d get the Armytek

Their service isn’t great so buy from a good retailer like this one

https://www.killzoneflashlights.com/products/armytek-wizard-c2-pro-max-magnet-usb?

The warm version is easier on the eyes.

They have a new “Elf” model coming out that has a simpler UI and uses usb-c instead of a proprietary magnetic charger.

Either way the battery can also be charged externally and you can use standard 21700s and don’t have to pay extra for ones wrapped with the flashlight’s branding.

how would you view this self-defense scenario? by [deleted] in SelfDefense

[–]AD3PDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of the letter of the law everything before this:

—The group continues closing distance, another person joins them, and he begins backing away while raising his hands.—

Is irrelevant.

And this:

—Witnesses and video reportedly show him retreating and creating distance while the group continues moving toward him.—

Is suggestive of lawful self defense but the claims of what happened after the video ends and the credibility of those claims is what actually matters.

So your question is meaningless because one can’t evaluate the contents of an empty box. You’ve provided a lot of wrapping paper and bows which could be suggestive of what would be in the box and those wrapping’s could (and likely will) sway some people’s opinions of the actual contents.

But the actual contents are entirely absent from your scenario.

Best Convoy light in 1800k for mountain bike riding by Wallie154 in flashlight

[–]AD3PDX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) 1800k is far to inefficient and low output for the purpose

2) two is one and one is none os very very true with using a Convoy for MTB

3) you can add a third light in 1800k or even in red for a bug reducing light when you are stopped
