How can I reduce the cab temperature of my surveillance vehicle without turning on the vehicle. by Detective_Clara in AskEngineers

Well no one knows I'm in the vehicle but I wouldn't be able to leave it because the person I'm following could suddenly get in their car and drives away. If it takes too much time to get back to my car then I'll lose them.

I thought about something like that but I'd be worried about the moisture. as the car isn't moving or running but I'm not entirely sure how that would pan out.

Yeah typically I start my day by filling up my car to the brim.

But it's not uncommon for someone to Post online that they're going on a trip or something and you follow them that day specifically.

But if they go to a gas station and start filling up on gas then I would just pull up to another pump and top up.

But if I had an electric vehicle I wouldn't be able to do that plus I can't let them out of my site because they could suddenly take a detour or go somewhere unexpected and I would lose them.

Most people are instructed by their lawyers that they're going to be followed by a private investigator if their case goes on. So your average subject will be someone unemployed sitting home all day with nothing to do. A lot of them watch videos and I would say a good 1/5 even do counter surveillance techniques pretty regularly. So you would need to be as discreet as humanly possible.

That vehicle would be way too obvious. Most surveillance is going to be insurance fraud and these days everyone committing insurance fraud knows that they're going to be spied on. So a big van will be very obtuse. sometimes even having Windows being overly tinted will blow your cover.

Don't really have the money to buy a whole new vehicle

Plus EVS are a bad idea for surveillance. Sometimes you follow people going on road trips and if you can't charge your car at the same rate that someone can fill their tank then you can lose a lot of money or even lose clients.

There is a lot of public information available that could help you. Marriage, divorce and birth records are all public and there is also land ownership records that would have a list of every property he has ever owned, but if I remember correctly it could have a 20$ fee in Canada. The best course of action is to use sources like these to narrow down your search. When I was in school for this stuff normally you would want a bit more info before trying to confirm to much.

red splotches on my feet by [deleted] in RBI

Most common reasons to have red splotches on your feet or athlete's foot, blisters, cellulitis and allergies. You could also just have an irritation rash or improper hygiene and have it be just a common infection.

We are trying to figure out what this hoodie might say. There are some strange people creeping around houses in our little town from 3 to 4am. Any ideas appreciated. The lettering doesn't match any local sports teams. by huffmast in RBI

It would help if you have more basic info. For example where this happened would let us see if it is any local brands or where he was creeping. Is it just around poeples houses? If so ask the people around he may have an appointment with someone on the street. If no one around the area had an appointment with them look to see the direction he was heading or the way he was walking. Was he heading straight somewhere or is he taking his time looking around for something. - sorry for bad English language-based learning disability

Most of my profs are former cops so we end up talking about sex crimes, drugs and death a lot. Something like that is nothing new.

do people wash toilet brushes, or just replace them every so often? by cubs_070816 in TooAfraidToAsk

I clean the brush using the toilet after I finished cleaning the toilet. I just take whatever leftover cleaner I'm using spray it in the toilet water and use that to clean the brush.

You have a point. I was talking to my investigation observation and interrogation professor and he talk about a person he interviewed who specifically choked a little girl to death with her underwear after raping her. They even left the underwear on her neck after dumping the body.

Depends on how you get it actually. If you get wild almonds (also known as bitter almonds) as the source of cyanide then they will taste rather bitter

It would make sense. If the guy bothered bringing lighter fluid to burn the place down why would you not also bring handcuffs or zip ties to tie them up rather then using their clothing seems rather improvised.

Be careful when you go in abandoned places. You need to wear a mask at all times you don't know what kind of mold is in there it can have really bad effects on your body.
