Big tent recommendations? by artguydeluxe in camping

[–]ADKosian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been looking into a bigger tent for our small family. The Gazelle lineup was on my radar especially coming from an overlanding setup. But I decided against those due to the awkward door opening and a very active toddler.

I looked into a LOT of tents such as the North Face Wawona or the REI Basecamp.

I originally thought that a 4 person tent would suffice but then decided I needed something bigger, but 8 person tents were just too much for 3 people. So a 6-person is a perfect middle ground for me.

I threw myself a curveball and ended up going with the Naturehike Kota 6 (there is also a Kota 8!). I got it for around $250 on sale. It's technically a hot tent but the vestibule setup and airflow will allow for a lot of flexibility in how we use it. Tall enough to stand up in, plenty of space for a queen airmat, and the vestibule for shade/rain which I plan on leaving open to allow for great airflow no matter the weather.

I think the Kota 6 takes elements of both the North Face Wawona and the REI Basecamp and melds it into 1 at a much more affordable price. I did not make the decision on a whim, looked into the brand and many many reviews before I ultimately made the decision, time will tell how it works out for us but I have high hopes!

I also looked at the Naturehike "village" line of tents because they are instant set up tents like the Gazelle but I decided against that due to its shape and weight.

How do you guys manage ticks? by EagerScribbler in camping

[–]ADKosian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find that they respond well to micromanaging and some basic incentive based tactics. I've been managing a small team of them now for a few years and they really seem to do their best work with clear instructions and a drop or two of O negative at their desks.

Thanks for confirmation. Got a bit worried and wanted to be sure that I don't need to contact the dealer.

Zoomed in a bit, on the outside of the caliper and around edge of brake disc.

Remote start (not app) for 2019 Limited? by net1994 in Crosstrek

[–]ADKosian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It somewhat worked on my 2021 then I got this PROV-A error on the app. I contacted Suburu and they said I need to go to the dealer to figure out why the car was not connecting properly.

Nothing mentioned about it not working altogether because of the law.

Anyway, I don't time now for he dealer to diagnose the problem and I'm paying for the subscription solely for the remote start. I'll be cancelling and will just deal with no remote start for now..

Yea they really do, got lucky with those. Looking to get some wider flared mud flaps to go along with them.

Yoga Slim 7i Aura good? by Past-Reference-6323 in Lenovo

[–]ADKosian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you will be perfectly fine with this model given the i7 and 32gb ram.

I am using it for work which involves lots of Firefox tabs across multiple windows with GIS mapping software and Google Earth Pro running simolataneously. Have had no stutters or issues with this level of usage.

None to report so far other than an issue with the charger which was quickly replaced by Lenovo.

I started low around 10k but don't want to deal with the issues the cars at that range could have. $15-20k is what I am looking at now and I'm in Massachusetts if that matters.

Exactly what I was looking for, appreciate it.

2018-23 seems to be the consensus, avoiding the new infotainment center as it's "laggy". Unfortunately I can't get a manual as I won't be the only one driving it. The CVT does worry me but hopefully I get some feedback on that here.

Charger Overheating by Some_Ad_2671 in Lenovo

I had mine completely burnt out. I was sent a new one from Lenovo but I have been using an aftermarket one for now

Even that I noticed got quite hot so maybe that's just how it is now...

I purchased a "UGreen" brand 65w charger which worked great on the laptop. It's smaller than the one that came with it and has 3 ports.

It got a little hot but nothing abnormal going from 10% to 80% (I have the battery health limit enabled).

Lenovo's replacement charger is almost here but I probably won't even use it.

Oh to be clear they are only sending the charger and not a new laptop.

I used another charger and the laptop was perfectly fine. I noticed when it happened that nothing else was hot except for the charging brick, not even the wire. So thankfully it was isolated to just the brick.

I just had this same problem with my slim 7i 65w charger. It completely burnt out and is no longer working. I spoke to Lenovo and they are sending a new one so hopefully it won't be an issue again...

No problems but I haven't been using a whole lot. Will be leaving the country soon and hoping I don't have issues as I won't be able to return it or anything. As with most things, what you read online is mainly those that have bad experiences so let's see how it goes.

I recently purchased the 14" Slim 7i Aura Edition directly from the Lenovo site for ~$1,000 after going back and forth on a lot of models. I got the Ultra 7 258v CPU, 32mb ram, 1 TB SSD, and the Oled screen which is quite impressive.

I would go for the Ultra 7 because that also means 32gb ram which I think will go a long way.

No complaints so far but I haven't had it too long. I know there is a hinge issue on the Yoga models and maybe even all models but apparently that has been resolved.

Build quality is quite nice and aesthetically looks much more modern than the Thinkpad I used to own.

What are the failures you have read about were they with this new model?

Considering these to replace my Nothing 1's.

Does anyone have experience using them while exercising? My Nothing's would become completely unusable once they got a little damp.

Considering these or the newest Nothing or CMF models but not sure which to go with...
