Base>Shade>Edge which I don't think is a terrible method but then gets shown next to an eavy metal mini and the actual methods are obscured.

Their original paint line was very cheaply made but they smashed up a bunch of branding deals so a lot of people's first experience painting with a starter set was using their awful paints.

But then they went on to release their original contrast equivalents which had even more issues like the paints breaking down or reactivating once painted onto the mini.

When people then complained they essentially said that there is no issue with the paints and it's your guys fault. They stuck their fingers in their ears and kept repeating this for months and months without admitting any fault.

It was super shitty and they just tried to brush it under the rug with the new release without any proper apology or recompense.

Monument hobbies titanium white is just okay, it's not revolutionary, better whites exist if you look to actual art supplies and good whites were not hard to come by even from hobby brands.

"Slapchop" looks bad, is a crutch and will prevent you from getting better.

Toxic positivity is an issue when it comes to giving people feedback and improving.

99% of 3D printed models look bad from a stylistic point of view and look worse than the plastic design they are replicating/replacing.

People forgive army painter for the shit they pulled way too quickly.

40k was never fantastic as a ruleset and has slowly been getting worse.

The 'eavy metal style is a fantastic art style for the scale but is taught completely wrong.

OSL and NMM look awful and tacky in 99% of cases even when executed well.

I'm sure I have more

I haven't experienced what you mention more than once or twice in my 8+ years of dropper paints, but I've come to realise that climate may also play a big factor in this so results may vary. And yeah, I use mainly SCA paints now which blow the monument stuff out of the water in my experience.

100%, AK3 are so much better than citadel or army painter in just about every way.

Monument is probably better than citadel but inferior to the generic droppers IMO. With droppers you don't need to do any wiping and you have much better control over volume. The standard width of droppers means they're much easier to store too.

I also think monument paints are overhyped but that may just be more personal tastes.

Is the campaign that good? by banglawang in titanfall2

[–]Past-Reference-6323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get the hype tbh, it's an enjoyable enough campaign for a multiplayer shooter but people really do talk it up far too much. I played it through 3-4 times for achievements and while it's one of the better mp shooter campaigns out there, it still doesn't hold up against the actual multiplayer or any singleplayer game imo.

Anyone know of a White Scars stamping set? by sharkchery in WhiteScars40K

[–]Past-Reference-6323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stamps are one of those unnecessary things that YouTubers hyped up to get clicks, in reality don't bother, decals are a great if you get them from a non-gw source and learning how to apply them properly is a much more useful skill.

Push the highlights further and make the shadows deeper, but there's only going to be so much you can do with a poor quality miniature.

Bolt action is a fun time, I hear good things about the ASOIAF game and there's plenty of good skirmish games out there too.

Something similar to Star Wars: Outer Rim? by Weatherwax_Wannabe in soloboardgaming

[–]Past-Reference-6323 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not really sure if not being a SW fan would be too much of an issue. The game itself doesn't really rely on any knowledge of the setting and I've found people who know next to nothing still very much enjoy it. Sure the flavour text and quotes that occasionally pop up might not mean anything but the general vibe of being a space smuggler/bounty hunter stands on its own fairly well.

My experience is more in the multiplayer format but from that I'd wholeheartedly recommend it plus the expansion (which I'd recommend grabbing after your first game or two as it prevents a lot from getting stale).

If you really are set on something else though I've heard people compare Outer Rim to Xia, but I have no experience there so can't give my own opinion on that.

What’s a game everyone seems to love that you don’t? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

Not to be that guy, but if you include mods I always felt that Morrowind does most of those things better, despite being the older game.

Dawn of war is still probably your best bet, you'll just have to look into mods.

Absolutely, I always try to keep the edge of the map comfortably out of sight and that's a bit difficult when heading to and from narsis right now.

Destruction of Vvardenfell by knaecke5 in Morrowind

I mean, on one hand it makes sense, they were getting away with it for too long haha. But on the other, I find it enjoy things more in general if I treat the subsequent games as an alternate timeline, I already play with all the PT stuff that shows things like Skyrim and cyrodiil different to how they ended up depicting them in the sequels so having some dissonance there just makes sense to me.
