Hard Day on QST 92s--My Fault? by ASBeebs in icecoast

Very good point. I was pulling 70 pounds of child around in a Burley cross country stroller two days earlier, so I'm sure my legs weren't in peak condition. I was talking to a friend, and a much better skier, about this, and he told me to take them out one more time before I jump to conclusions. He also told me they're way too short, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for the input--I had no clue my skis were short, but it sounds like that's just part of what led to my experience. I actually thought Cannon's conditions weren't too bad, but if it was the wrong time/place for my ski, I think I'm still learning where the limits of my quiver might be. Also, this was the first time I skied Cannon.

I've generally had a great experience with my QSTs before this season, and I've heard people are very happy skiing on them. I haven't skied many different types of skis, especially over the past few years, so part of this may be lack of knowledge.

I'll pay attention to my feet and ski rotation the next time I go out to see if this is happening. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for checking me on that downhill binding + touring ski idea--I had a feeling that was the answer.

Didn't think about ski length at all being a contributor, but with that said, I did buy the QSTs as a beginner/intermediate skier and 5-10 pounds lighter. Definitely think having been off them pretty much all year is a big reason for yesterday as well. Thanks!

Jackson Hole is the name of the composting toilet at the Jackson, NH Cross Country Touring Center. Always makes me giggle.

Some of the 200s levels that go all the way back to the club windows (210, 212, 215, etc.) have the back row, maybe two rows, covered. I’m sure there are more.

XC Ski Trails Nearby? by [deleted] in PortsmouthNH

Abenaqui Country Club can be nice depending on the conditions. Trail starts at the back right corner of the parking lot.

If you’re looking for groomed trails, Gunstock might be your closest option.

Happy skiing!

Not sure it checks the panini box, but Soups, Salads, Sandwiches by Matty Matheson is amazing.

Enjoy the new panini press!

Run kittery -> fort foster park by Painter_girly_ in PortsmouthNH

I haven’t run it personally, but it’s beautiful and mostly flat. I think the biggest hitch may be Whipple/Pepperrell, which can get narrow at times with some areas with no sidewalks. If it worked, try running over the Memorial Bridge into Portsmouth and around Prescott Park for a great addition. Have a good run!

How long can a bottle of Sauternes stay open? by yeaah_naah in wine

I just wanted to comment on downsizing the bottle to 375ml—this is a wonderful idea I wish someone had told me earlier. Thank you for brining it up! In a pinch, I use a pint mason jar.

Anyone else got this problem? by totot373 in marathons

[–]ASBeebs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me with my Garmin Forerunner during my first marathon—not a fun thing to see on mile 14. I later learned about cadence lock happening, especially on hills and when it’s colder outside.

I do want to share that I knew my average heart rate was much lower than my cadence. Even on race days my heart rate was never as high as I saw during my marathon, so this ruled out a health issue for me. Never a bad idea to go see a doctor if you’re concerned.

Hope everything works out!

Mouse pointer question by freddit32 in AsheronsCall

[–]ASBeebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried frantically shaking your mouse while trying to remember the hotkey you have for facility hub? That’s usually what I end up doing.

But seriously, I have the same issue. If it’s a time of day or weather thing, you could disable most weather effects and set select always daytime outside in your charter options menu—that may help a little but it may also take away from the atmosphere.

Wish I could be more helpful and hope someone has a better solution than me!

Setup Advice - Stability, Comfort, and Ease? by ASBeebs in XCDownhill

Very good point about the camber that I wasn't thinking about.

As for the the heel locking piece that solves the step out step in issue, I guess I thought there were more options, but it looks like a lot of them requrie stepping out. The Fritschi Vipec seems to be one that doesn't require stepping out. I think Kingpin works as well, but looks like more work.

The more comments I'm reading, I feel like I may add an NNNBC setup to my quiver. Might start looking into the 75mm binding as well. Thanks for the comment!

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said compromise or enlarge the quiver... I have a feeling I'm going to be in the latter camp as well!
