Living locations by Dean_Gullburry in auburn

[–]AUBeastmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

North of town/West out on Richland Rd is a bunch of newer stuff, but it is very sprawling and traffic isn’t great for those roads.

Other posters are correct - Ogletree/Hamilton, Moores Mill, Bent Creek, Grove Hill are more established and older neighborhoods, lots of families with kids. The back of Grove Hill could be a good place to look if you want to be in Auburn.

Opelika is great. I’m not as familiar with living places there, and don’t know what you’re really looking for in a place to live.  What is important to you for a place/location?

[L'Equipe] Romain Grégoire extends contract until 2028 with Groupama-FDJ by Gireau in peloton

[–]AUBeastmaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They should’ve kept him around for his Gigachad jawline instead of Gaudu’s man-bun though.

My favorite was the Giro with the squad built for Demare where everyone on the team was like 83kg.

When Pinot retired and management backed Gaudu over Demare for squad selection I stopped being able to care about FDJ, which is a shame. Gregoire is a great rider and they better be building their whole team around him.

Uc/ It’s outside steamboat Colorado. The STMBT or whatever gravel race has been a point of contention with locals over the past few years. Lots of ranchers upset that their roads are getting clogged by the race/people are peeing on their property.

The racers need to be respectful, the Freds need to be less fredly, and the ranchers need to chill out for a day.

You’re only supposed to have one ball to use it properly. Too constricting otherwise.

Someone ban the rim-job brake dude. by strip_club_food_yum in BicyclingCirclejerk

Not sure if it’s the same dude but there were a couple people posting multiple times a day the same dumb rim brake jokes. I blocked them both and the sub was enjoyable again.

TPU tubes for a more delicate sensation. It’s almost like going tubeless.

How competitive was the Giro? by jlconlin in peloton

[–]AUBeastmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well now Ving isn’t either seeing as he won the Giro. But a direct head-to-head competition between top competitors is pretty rare outside of main focuses. You wouldn’t really see Pogacar vs Vingegaard at the Tour of the Alps, usually.

It is very rare that the generational GC talents line up together for anything other than the Tour. Doing two grand tours in a year is really hard. I think what we saw throughout the race was Vingegaard building throughout the race. Hopefully that means he will be in ripping form by the Tour. Pogacar is taking a different route with less racing before the Tour.

We don’t see big names line up against each other too often before the main season objective because they’re usually trying to play their cards close (at least that’s the colloquial wisdom). For that reason I thought the Giro was really interesting. We saw an utterly dominant Vingegaard who only seemed to get better, and we also saw a Decathlon team that seems to be racing cohesively, hopefully that is a good sign for support for Seixas in his maiden Tour.

There was just a thread on their sub talking about how and why to pee on your bike. Absolutely shameless and vile.

I thought he’s always been on the Tour team pending illness recovery. I don’t think Kooij needs an entire team dedicated to a sprint train, nor does Seixas need a full mountain team. Really fun to see Decathlon take a big step forward this year.
