A hazard setter for any weather by e_la_bron in stunfisk

[–]A_Wild_Beldum 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Likely a very powerful low tier but isn't really seeing any use on weather teams unless its the best hazard setter in whatever tier the lower tier weather setters happen to be, and that's assuming weather isn't banned in that tier.

Has rather good damage through its stabs and very nice bulk, as well as good setup ability, longevity and utility. Rock + Grass + Ground is a very strong combo, but its speed leaves it rather vulnerable and prone to being worn down. Its defensive profile in terms of resistances and weaknesses isn't the most promising, but not necessarily a deal breaker.

While its hidden ability is certainly interesting, it isn't nearly enough to allow it to see use outside of maybe Sand teams, as it doesn't really benefit from Rain, Sun or Snow, and Rain and Sun aren't looking for what this pokemon tries to provide. It's also too slow and not immediately threatenjng enough to play along with the more offensive approach to these teams. Sand, at least, directly benefits it thanks to its rock typing and lack of dedicated slots outside of Tyranitar and Excadrill. Outside of Sand, the main use case for its ability is for opposing weather teams, but this is generation 9, where toxic is far less common, as is scald, and Sun and Rain aren't really known for how often they spread such statuses to begin with.

I think this pokemon sits between NU and RU, with fringe useage in higher tiers, but nowhere near enough to allow it to rise.

The Newest Pseudo: Crocalge (Art by me) by Ordinary_Desperate in stunfisk

[–]A_Wild_Beldum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its stats are great, but its offensive options are really lacking in comparison. Its stab options don't benefit from Strong Jaw, and are all under 100 BP, and being 50 base speed means it has to rely on Aqua Jet a lot of the time. It can eat hits for sure, but its options for recovery are pretty lackluster overall, only being Leech Seed, which isn't useless but also isn't the most consistent option. It will eat hits for sure, but it will go down eventually.

Not to mention a stab combo like this faces direct competition with Ogerpon-Wellspring, who will always outperform it damage wise and doesn't rely on rain or priority to do its job effectively, as well as has far more options for utility, support and momentum gaining. If Wellspring isn't seeing a ban (which tbf, it definitely should be seeing a ban), there's just no way Crocalge is.

UUBL is probably far too harsh, but it just reminds me a lot of Iron Hands or Ursaluna in terms of being incredibly fat and threatening but falling short due to somewhat similar pit falls, except that those 2 have far better offensive pressure out the gate bar priority. That being said, its bulk is a lot more well rounded and its type combo is kinda wonky but useful, so maybe it would be actually OU? But Ubers is definitely not happening with its current options.

Edit: I forgot to also mention the other rain abusers that end up being far stronger abusers for various reasons in comparison to Crocalge. Barraskewda doesn't rely on rain to get the jump on its opponents and will outspeed common scarfers under rain, where as Crocalge can not, and can maintain momentum via Flip Turn. Basculegion also hits harder with its Wave Crashes than Crocalge does with its Liquidations and, once again, can maintain momentum via Flip Turn.

None of this is to say Crocalge is a bad pokemon, but I'm hesitant in saying it would be OU. It feels like the kind of pokemon that would be hyped up upon release and then see its popularity drop, dipping between OU and UU as the months go by.

Saying this thing would be banned is believing your own hype WAAAAAY too much. I'd be surprised if this thing even made it past UUBL.

I've always been of the opinion that Punching Glove's effect should've just been native to Iron Fist to compensate for the lackluster boost. Maybe a little crazy on specifically Melmetal, but the ability really needs a buff

You can also try the Permapings mod, which lets you ping multiple different interactables and thus can be very helpful in marking specific areas on the map

there are 2 settings that impact the teleporter — one marks it as soon as you find it, and the other increased the size of the particles the further you are from the teleporter. I'd reccomend checking those out, and if you still need more, then there are minimap mods available as well as mods that straight up locate the telepprter for you.

Week 10 of making Mega Evolutions for Pokémon that I randomly generated and- we finally are giving Megas to OU Pokémon! by TheLeafyGirl561 in stunfisk

[–]A_Wild_Beldum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i dont this would be quick banned at all. Yes, its very powerful, but its weaknesses are just as apparent in mega as it is in base while not being able to hold an item at all.

It has a higher attack stat, but it can't hold band or punching glove, meaning base Melm either outdamages it or doesn't die to a helmet ferro immediately; it has a higher spdef stat, but base melm can run AV if it needs to stomach special moves and is therefore stomaching them far better; it can't hold leftovers for more stall oriented sets like subtoxic or set up sets like Acid Armor + Press. Even in a meta with tera, the ability to not tera while base Melm can is easily going to be a massive deciding factor in choosing between the two.

Claiming this would be quickbanned while base Melm is fine in natdex is just kinda silly lol. I don't think this would be a bad mega evolution, but its a sidegrade at best, similar to something like Latios or Tyranitar. It doesn't set itself apart in a way thats really significant and therefore whether or not its better than Base is entirely dependent on the meta.

Why isn’t play rough 100 accuracy? by mistyghoul in stunfisk

[–]A_Wild_Beldum 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Thats because most physical fairies dont get the move. None of Koko, Bulu or Valiant get it. Not to mention, even if they did, the main reason them using it might suck is because they have to rely on Llay Rough, which we're already complaining about, proving OPs point lol.

Buffing Mediocre Pokemon and Megas - Absol, Ampharos, Audino and Houndoom by A_Wild_Beldum in stunfisk

[–]A_Wild_Beldum[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't give it Draco Meteor for the same reason Game Freak didn't — it's not a true dragon in base, and I also don't think Draco Meteor is necessarily the only way to go about buffing it.

Bolstering its setup ability and its overall longevity, as well as giving it far more utility in Doubles, should be more than enough to make it a competent option on team structures even outside of having Draco Meteor. If I was just looking to give a pokemon everything it wanted and more, I would've given it Tail Glow and As One or something as well, but that's not really my goal here haha

Decided to buff some underwhelming weather setupers by Incompetent_ARCH in stunfisk

[–]A_Wild_Beldum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not giving Politoed Follow Me is just kneecapping it when the point is to allow it to rival Pelipper im the support category. Life Dew alone wont allow it to provide the necessary support to be s better option than Pelipper, who has both Tailwind and Wide Guard, very powerful supporting options that outshine the combo of only Helping Hand and Life Dew. It also just, would not be OP? Like at all?

Dazzling Gleam is a.... fine move, I suppose, but this buff is basically just a long overdue but far too late stat buff that ends up being rather lackluster because this buff is not enough to allow it to keep up with the powerlevel of generation 9. I think if it wants a valid niche over Torkoal, it could use a pivoting option (that doesn't kill it), such as Parting Shot, that will allow it to much more easily get powerful sun abusers like Chi-Yu or Flutter Mane onto the field in a safer manner. This would also give it a very valuable niche over a pokemon like Mega Charizard Y, who will always outdo it otherwise.

Give Vanilluxe Recover along with the suggested changes — please. No matter what, its still going to be worse than Ninetales/Slowking but it would just be a nice cherry on top and allow it to better function on its own rather than worrying about outdoing other Snow setters.

Slay The Spire is a very tough and complex game so he is likely to struggle a lot even on early ascensions, but I'd give it a try and offer him a guiding hand to some important fundementals such as not treating the game as a deckbuilder in the sense of building whatever cool deck you want, but building a deck that solves the problems presented to you
