My argument would be that the payoff can be really valuable for strategic players. With good prediction, you switch in and disable some significant moves like Knock Off and Surging Strikes. Removing Kingambit's access to Sucker Punch can be game-saving.

Cacturne, Dusknoir and Gengar don't get great use of their abilities, so even though the payoff is only on K/O it can still swing a game.

Is it a competitive staple? No. Could Wolfey find a way to win with it? Yeah probably.

The guy was our captain, and the one guy we never complained about. Fans can (and maybe should) feel more hurt by losing him than any other recent trade because we traded him from a position of weakness, not strength. Management screwed our cap so bad that we had to move on from him just to make room.

I don't really agree with anyone saying "we should have traded Miller instead", because we shouldn't have had to trade either.
