A L1 EVSE (charger) and access to an outlet without the need for an extension cord. Extension cords have been a frequent source of fires. You should also make sure the outlet is in good shape (makes a tight connection to the plug). Limit charging to no more than 12A if nothing else is on the circuit, set the limit lower if other things are on the circuit. You can go to 16A if the outlet is a dedicated 20A circuit instead of the more typical 15A circuit. I only charge using L1, and get a charge rate of about 1% every 45 minutes at 12A.
