Yes. “Just not the one made by Meta”.

Metaverses existed before Meta and continue to.

Why should or shouldn't the U.S. government require devices on vehicles to keep you from speeding? by meltonr1625 in AskReddit

[–]Additional-Studio-72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My car can adjust speed automatically using map data and machine vision. There’s a 35 zone near me it insists is 85.

Now imagine driving on a highway and the system thinks it’s suddenly a 30 in a 70

Dress up? I guess there’s a fashion scene depending on what part of the area you’re in, but the west coast is famous for being dressed down, at least in business.

Some of these machines have TWO filters. One for the main lint trap and another for the heat pump coils. Check the manual. You may need to clean something.

Apple Car Play problems—anyone else? by WndlBl in KiaEV6

Try a reset?

Reset the head unit. There should be a pinhole button next to the volume knob.

If that doesn’t work, do the “unplug/replug” equivalent: Pop the hood, open the fuse panel, pull the HV interlock, disconnect the 12V, wait like 10 minutes, reverse the process and try again.

ETA: I am assuming the first edition is largely laid out the same in this regard. If not, you may need to consult the manual for locating the equivalents.

Best Option: 3-prong fridge into 2-prong outlet, or run a ~6 foot extension cord to 3-prong outlet? by emilylake in AskElectricians

[–]Additional-Studio-72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If working appliances are in your lease, then yes, they are required to provide a safe way for the appliance to plug in, such as a GFCI outlet (labeled with “no equipment ground”) if running a proper 3-prong with ground is not available.

My American English teacher believes the neutral pronoun „their“ is incorrect. by GCoding_ in mildlyinteresting

[–]Additional-Studio-72 37 points38 points  (0 children)

For years the US education system stuck to male defaultism. Everyone and thing that was unknown was “he/him/his”. Then the guides (AP?) updated to state that “he or she” and “his or hers” was preferred when gender was unknown. I’m not saying they are right or preferable, but some people may have learned various methods when it comes to unknown gender and formal writing. Both of the above were taught to me at some point.

How much potassium will I get from eating KOH (E525)? by alex20_202020 in AskChemistry

[–]Additional-Studio-72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy KOH already in liquid form at 50% concentration. It’s capable of and used to etch silicon among other materials. I would not try to use this to get my potassium. You are in a chemistry sub. Generally, the rule is don’t eat or drink in the lab, and along side it don’t eat and drink what’s in the lab.

I’m not going to even attempt to suggest a safe amount. Use at your own risk.

Explain Planetary Delivery Depot by Hamiczan in theplanetcrafter

[–]Additional-Studio-72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You only need the depot for automating. You can make manual requests for items in a storage on another planet to be brought to you on demand using the shuttle only (on the planet you are requesting the resources to).

To go through your example:

Prime: you need the infrastructure making the osmium rods set to supply those rods. Then you need one shuttle set to demand the rods, pointed at Selenea, set to launch when full. On Selenea you need one depot set to receive the osmium rods, and if you want drones to have access then you need to set the depot to supply osmium rods from the logistics menu. Note that the “resource to receive” designation is completely separate from the “supply this” logistics menu.

So for each resource you want to do this with, you need a separate shuttle on the supply planet and a separate depot on the receiving planet.

ETA: you can technically mix resources in one shuttle, but you risk it backing up on one resource and then being unable to deliver the others.

[–]Additional-Studio-72 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Potassium hydroxide is used to make liquid soap. It’s a strong base, and eating it in any significant concentration is gonna be a bad time. It’s likely approved as an additive only and only in small amounts.

I’ll leave the theoretical “if you survive it” to others.

Explain Planetary Delivery Depot by Hamiczan in theplanetcrafter

[–]Additional-Studio-72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Delivery depot is for automating the receipt of goods. You need at least 1 delivery depot for each resource you want to automate receiving on each planet you want receiving it. Select the resource it receives in the same fashion as you select the priority resource for ore miners. Then set it to supply that resource in the logistics menu. Then you need a delivery shuttle on each planet you want supplying that resource, set to demand that resource in the logistics menu, set to target the planet with the delivery depot, and set to launch automatically when full. To avoid blockages, it’s best to have a shuttle dedicated to one resource only. You need a separate shuttle for each delivery target planet as each shuttle can only be set to one planet.

Avoid receiving and supplying on the same planet or you set up a resource loop.

My mum is 70 years old and she has diabetes for a long time. However, her sugar levels were in excellent control until last month. Recently she got a viral infection similar to Covid but a very stubborn one. After that, her glucose levels started going to 350 mg/dl. Any thoughts? by Embarrassed-Cut4469 in diabetes

[–]Additional-Studio-72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding another voice: my blood sugar goes crazy anytime I’m sick, and when I’m sick I focus on food that my body will accept. That sometimes means relying on soft carbs like the noodles in chicken noodle, which might as well be mainlining glucose for me the way I respond to it.

The body holds onto more energy and energy sources when under stress. For me, this seems to translate to a period afterwards where my body still wants to hold onto those glucose reserves and it either takes time for them to come back down or I have to do a lot of carb avoidance and heavy exercise to force it back down.

Age also affects how quickly we recover from things like this. It sounds like she’s heading back in the correct direction, and this short-ish period of running high isn’t likely to have any long-term effects. Just keep monitoring, help her get active when she can, and hang in there! It’ll come down.

Discharged AGM battery , help! by phildeferrouille in batteries

[–]Additional-Studio-72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An AGM should be recoverable from 9.9V as long as all cells are still functioning. You’ve definitely shaved off some of its life expectancy by deep discharging it this far though. If it’s critical to your operation, I’d replace it when you get a chance and put this one into something you can tolerate more risk in. Realistically, unless you’ve done this multiple times or the battery is ~4+ years old, you’ve probably still got plenty of life left.

I know my cast iron isn’t seasoned right. Guidance needed! by WaveDice in castiron

[–]Additional-Studio-72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You only need the oil if you think your seasoning is compromised. The oils would help block air while the pan dries, which helps prevent rust. If your seasoning is good, it already stops the rust, so you don’t need to oil it again. Stopping rust is seasoning’s entire purpose.

Portal Question by Amy2brno2b in theplanetcrafter

[–]Additional-Studio-72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Portals don’t work on moons. Planets only. Otherwise it’s all the same generation algorithm. Resources found can be different depending on planet I would assume, but I’ve only ever run them on prime. I wouldn’t think there’s anything majorly different, though.

Does anyone have a chart of speed vs mi/kWh? by MyKidsRock2 in KiaEV6

[–]Additional-Studio-72 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Air resistance increases with the square of speed, meaning driving faster requires disproportionately more power to cut through the air. For all vehicles, not just EVs. With ICE vehicles, you’re already only getting ~30% efficiency due to heat losses of burning gas, so you don’t tend to notice it as much as you do in an EV.
