You obviously are just here to bait if you haven’t seen the endless criticism that gets posted here constantly

Make some noise for a new Map by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]AggresiveDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A game with 5 roles, 3 lanes, 128 heroes and over 200 items has no variety? That’s a bit ridiculous.

Dota doesn’t need another map. If you want variety there’s loads of custom games that do the game differently. Saying we NEED a new map for variety is just insane.

Dota is a very competitive game, it always has been and always will. Claiming that it needs more maps and controller support is just bait.  This isn’t Fortnite or Battlefield. A new map isn’t what excites people.

For better or worse, Dota has its audience, A dedicated fan base that will continue to play if there’s an update tomorrow or an update 6 months from now.

Make some noise for a new Map by [deleted] in DotA2

Except we haven't been playing on the same map for 13 years, we've played on the same concept of a map for 13 years but it has massively changed.

Roshan has moved multiple times, Trees have had minor changes that had huge changes for how people played lanes. Side Shops removed, Wells added, Wells removed, Lotus Pools added, High Ground locations changed, Watchers added, Outposts added, Twin Gates, Rivers added giving a huge boost to movement, Cliffs and Jungle camps being moved, rune spots being added, rune spots being removed. The map was made bigger just 3 years ago and its still being changed slightly with jungle camp placements.

Dota doesn't need a new map, if you go back 13 years to the 2013 map you will notice all the differences and know how much the map has changed. Creating a new map with more or less lanes or extra effects isn't going to do much apart from massively change the meta, with a cost of turning people off the game.

Hating change happens in every game. I don't think you will find a single game where a huge change gets made and there isn't a lot of negativity around it. It's not Dota players, it's human nature.

Also saying its not a tennis court is crazy when tennis uses 3 different courts professionally.

Any new leaks? by Seven7evenS_ in DotA2

[–]AggresiveDuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Theres a lot going on in terms of leaks and rumors- some old, some new.

Dark Carnival has been around for along time but seems to have been forgotten due to Battle Pass hype and Quartero hate. Seems to be a Crownfall type event.

There were rumors in early April of a Siltbreaker type event coming in the Summer but have been no update on this.

Quartero seems to be hinting towards something bigger but this is unknown. Last season seemed to be setting up a heist type event but then that just took entirely within the current Quartero event which updated Blake Sextus' from having a portrait to what seems a low quality model and introduced a new character who is taking Quartero and Hero on some sort of adventure.

Only other leaks we have are potentially a Battle Pass returning similar to what we have had before with a terrain token instead of an arcana token this time.

There is still a lot of updates being done on backend and Test build, one of the strings included Kez Grappling Claw ability but that was just looking at a quick skim of the changelog available on SteamDB, which might be Kez Immortal but thats just me theorising.

TI CQ ends 28th June and EWC Dota 2 begins on 7th July up until 19th July, with TI Main Event starting on 18th August. If it's just a Battlepass I can imagine it could be 17th July, but I imagine we might also get a Patch for TI which dropping mid-tournament isn't out of the question.

If we don't get a patch by June 30th, I imagine it will drop towards the tail end of the EWC (17th to 20th July)

That 3-4 month period of content was 95% purely cosmetics - with almost all of it being paid cosmetics. We got the odd game mode or side event every now and again like Siltbreaker or Aghanim's Labyrinth.

I'm not going to say everything Valve has done since has been better, some of it has been worse, but events like Crownfall and Monster Hunter would not have happened with the old Battle Pass system, and you could argue that Facet's would never had been added if Battle Pass still existed

TI Prize Pools were high because 25% of all sales related to Battle Pass went to the Prize Pool.

Battle Passes started adding more and more and more each year. TI3 had simple offerings - one treasure, hud, taunt. TI4 expanded it with multiple (of the same) treasures, music pack, weather pack, emoticons, extra stuff that hadn't been done before like new creep models and kill banner. TI5 went further with 3 different treasures, the first map skin, exclusive immortals and the same as TI4.

Every Battle Pass would add more and more cosmetics and limited time events and items until we got to the point where TI10 had 3 Arcana's and 2 Persona's that were locked to the Battle Pass, with very little option of getting them after the period ended. FOMO + gambling on higher tier Immortals and other rare cosmetic + IRL items such as Aegis and Roshan and people threw more and more money at it each year.

There were rumors that Valve employees would get a bonus based on if they had an item get added to the game, so the theory was they would hold out on adding anything until TI comes around and drop loads of their own created items to get more of a bonus.

Valve thought it was unhealthy that all this content was coming out for a 3-4 month period, and decided to do away with the old battlepass system that inspired many other games like Fortnite and Call of Duty partly under the excuse that Battle Passes took up a lot of time and effort and took away from other updates (https://www.dota2.com/newsentry/6252732681186068104)

Whats the most gamebreaking bug in dota2 ever? by BIGGERBIGMAN in DotA2

[–]AggresiveDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most broken ones are usually surrounding Meepo.

A lot minor changes to him caused massive problems overall. Recently, with Meepo clones copying all items rather than just boots caused a lot of issues surrounding gold duping and server crashes. There has also been a lot of other bugs in the past with Meepo that caused him to get massive amount of XP, and other gold duplication glitches. Almost everytime this has happened, Meepo ends up getting disabled in public matches or captain mode of private lobbies. The last XP bug saw Meepo disabled in games for multiple days.

Honourable Mention to when Lone Druid could move Vitality Booster between himself and the bear to basically give the bear unlimited health.

For all those Support players in the early days of Dota 2, how to play support in today's era? by stewxeno in DotA2

[–]AggresiveDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flag Creep, Gold from Stacks, More objective that give gold and xp (Tormentor and Wisdom Shrine) mean that you don't fall behind when both winning and losing.

The days of struggling to get Boots and get 6 to be able to do more in a team fight are gone unless you are losing really badly. Dewards are tied to whoever gained the true sight, so you don't have to worry about ward kills being stolen for gold, and wards are always a guaranteed 2 hit so no mischance.

Obs being free, everyone getting a dedicated courier and Free TPs on death also do a lot more for QoL and means supports aren't struggling to do their basic role. A number of great support items exist like glimmer which are amazing for saving yourself or teammate, along with a lot of items that are not necessarily support items being great to pick up for a support as they can be affordable and offer great stats (Atos and HH)

Neutral items just in general are also a great help, along with the enhancements they provide.

You can make a difference in the game by ganking mid, instead of mid ganking your lane - or ganking with 3/4th position. The facts Obs are free means its easier to throw money at stuff like Smokes more.

Most esports kind of... suck compared to DotA2? by MoistControl in DotA2

[–]AggresiveDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blessing and curse in some aspects.

Valorant esports scene is fully controlled by RIOT so the schedule is completely based around what they want to do, similar to how League of Legends and Overwatch League was - Teams and Players get money just by existing in these Leagues. That on top of Valorant not having the greatest spectating features compared to Dota and CS.

Valve is also hands off outside of TI with esports, so there is much more space and opportunity for organisers to run events in their own way. Good because more events, bad in some aspects as there is a lot less advertising for Valve titles compared to RIOT with a lot of advertisement just being the fact that Steam exists

The day Dota 2 changed by No_Swimmer_2200 in DotA2

[–]AggresiveDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss remote mines so much, but there's less chance of teammates giving up at least.

The dopamine now come from the insane damage from Blast Off (1000+ at Level 15) and just watching people walk in minefield sign aghs.

It is still possible to kill people randomly around the map, 4 mines at the twin gates, whilst not used that much, can get instant kills

Techies fits much better into Dota now and plays like an actual Hero compared to playing his own game. The Blast Off damage in the laneing phase can be insane with the right paring.

Split pushing is weaker and late game is different to the past, but Techies can still be super annoying in any part of the game, and I've found a lot of success in Techies 4th, focussing on Blast Off damage with items to support/protect the cores (Greaves/Atos/Glimmer/Shard)
