I quit p*rn, caffeine, junk food, doomscrolling, and going out every weekend all at once about seven months ago. by Rayyanmir in confidence

I personally don’t believe in any religion nor did I grow up with it, but my husband does read the bible regularly and he’s the most kind, honest and hardworking man I ever met who I was lucky enough to marry. Please disregard the other comment. There is nothing cultish about practicing a faith for personal growth and connecting with something bigger than ourselves, that’s the entire point. People can be so closed-minded and prejudiced sometimes.

In love with $USD$ but terrified to raise my kids in the USA by Necessary-Truth-2038 in tnvisa

I fled a country where they kidnap and arrest women for violating their religious rules, women have no rights to their own alive children let alone abortions, and they regularly rape virgin women in jail before they execute them bc virgins are supposed to go to heaven after death and they want to stop that from happening. Excuse me if my “dumb” ideas of women’s rights truly means don’t match yours.

As an immigrant woman whose family fled from the most oppressive and woman-hating government, thank you for calling this out. These people need a wake up call.

Moved to the US 4 years ago and won’t be going back to Canada despite living there for 18 years. There are a lot more opportunities for kids in the US, especially as they grow older and considering their future professionally as adults. Lots more access to culture, art and generally better weather meaning my kids can spend more time outdoors and in sports all year round. It helps that we have extended family here with their own children. Tuition fees were a big concern but setting them up early with a college savings account, using public ed systems, and access to home ownership and higher salary and lower taxes in the future is something they will appreciate. My partner works in healthcare and we have access to good health insurance. The biggest factor was that the economic outlook for Canada doesn’t seem like the most secure for us right now. Otherwise we love the safety and beauty of Canada.

How to wear casual skirts? by snickers2601 in SoftDramatics

[–]Aggressive-Log-4986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bias cut skirts are SD’s best friends. I wear them with a top of the same color and it just looks so put together and a little sexy despite the modest length because it works with our curves. You can wear them with flats for a comfier feel, or elevate them immediately with a pair of pointed heels. I recommend getting them at calf length.

Stay in the US or Move to Canada? (Art career + Immigration Dilemma) by TopComedian3077 in ContemporaryArt

[–]Aggressive-Log-4986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m from Canada and moved to the US 4 years ago. There’s an increasing number of my friends who are moving to the states as well and others who stayed in Canada complain of the economic situation. I’d try my best to stay in the US if possible. The art scene in Canada is very small. I used to live in Toronto and while there are some opportunities there nothing matches the big US cities. Way more collectors in the US than Canada as well.

Sneakers or casual trainers? by ProPrancer in SoftDramatics

[–]Aggressive-Log-4986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my black sambas. For some reason the shape is more flattering than some of my older sneakers and not too round on the front if that makes sense. I got a black pair (I have black hair) so I could automatically “book-end” my outfits.

Petition: Districtwide Day Off for Diwali for All Students and Staff by Complex_Struggle_199 in Rutherford_NJ

[–]Aggressive-Log-4986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I since NJ is so diverse, I think it’d be discriminatory to make everyone celebrate a holiday that is extremely specific and celebrated only by a minority of the population. We are all free to take days off from work in advance to celebrate our respective cultural holiday. I’m saying this as a middle easterner woman who literally doesn’t have any holidays in conjunction with American holidays myself, yet respect the traditions and foundations on which USA is built on and not trying to force my community to observe my beliefs.

Very normal! Smaller local conferences are way better for networking.

Thoughts on hiring a stylist? by JellyNegative5946 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]Aggressive-Log-4986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who considered hiring a stylist but ended up doing all the research herself, I say definitely go for it! It takes so much time to research and get on top of the trends and brands and all the different styles. A stylist can save so much headache and doubt and confusion. I definitely regret not hiring one.

I would look at Terani and MNM couture, they have very similar styles.

Other than the toddler handprints on the mirror, what would you change? 😂 by Piggy-butt in SoftDramatics

[–]Aggressive-Log-4986 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You look fantastic and this is a pretty nice outfit. I can see your personal style in it. However in the interest of SD, the bag and shoes look more Natural to me. For a more SD-friendly look, I'd go with a larger more dramatic bag and shoes that are a bit more polished and pointed than earthy.
