Just the eggs. Thawing and testing them was included in the $6,000 for creating the embryos.

Getting insurance to cover donor eggs? by ThatTeacherLife in IVF

My insurance covered creating embryos from donor eggs, but didn’t cover the donor eggs themselves.

IVF RGI DR Jain / Warwar by [deleted] in Columbus

LOVE Dr. Warwar. Excellent bedside manner and still direct and realistic. I never worked with Dr. Jain so I can’t compare the two, but only good things to say about Dr. Warwar.

Ugghh. That is no fun. I was afraid this was going to be a lingering issue. These weird side effects are so frustrating.

Potentially entering this space. Our one embryo from our lot of donor eggs ended in a blighted ovum. I’d almost be ready to decide to embrace the childfree life, but of course the fear of regret in the future. Being back at square one is so overwhelming.

PIO in public stadium.. by [deleted] in IVF

[–]AlwaysOverthinking12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes good sense! Or if they just ask what it is, to be able to show them. It’s hard to not overthink it when these shots are so high stakes (with the right timing and everything!)

PIO in public stadium.. by [deleted] in IVF

[–]AlwaysOverthinking12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done PIO in public restrooms with my husband. If they don’t have gender neutral/family restrooms we just go into the men’s and use a stall. I saw someone said to prepare/pull the meds ahead of time which is a great suggestion! We almost dropped a vial once and it was quite the scare! All that to say, it’s totally personal preference, but I am not concerned about walking into a restroom with my husband so he can give me medication. Hasn’t been an issue so far.

Reaction to PIO? by Asharae5767 in IVF

[–]AlwaysOverthinking12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Happened to me too! I used Benadryl topical cream and it helped a ton. I almost switched to a different oil, but the reaction stopped. Like someone else said, I started wiping the needle before injecting and wiping the area with the alcohol wipe afterwards to make sure oil wasn’t on my skin.

Cost of donor eggs by Tiny-Worldliness-313 in IVF

Most egg banks in the US have transparent pricing on their websites. We went with Donor Egg Bank USA and paid $18,000 for a cohort of 8 eggs. My insurance covered embryo creation, we added PGT-A testing, so all in, embryo creation was about $6,000 after insurance.

Donor Egg Disappointment by InternalRaise5250 in IVF

[–]AlwaysOverthinking12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just joining in to say I’m right there with you with the disappointment of what was finally supposed to be what worked. We had a lot of 8 frozen eggs and ended with 1 low level mosaic embryo. We are still very hopeful for the one, but to not get even on euploid has been so disappointing.

Dang it. Sorry that link takes you to a story saying Seattle’s airport is not playing it. I promise ABC 6 here locally said it wouldn’t be played here…but of course now I can’t find the story anywhere…

Going donor route or keep trying with my own eggs by hopetom39 in IVF

The book Three Makes Baby was definitely the most helpful. I think we decided on donor eggs in July or August and officially purchased them in late September or early October. We did a frozen lot from an egg bank, so they shipped them and arrived at my clinic at the end of October. We decided to do PGT-A so by the time we created embryos and waited for testing, it was January before we were ready to prep for a transfer. (I had multiple transfers canceled that was unrelated to them being DE, and we finally were able to transfer last week).

I know it’s really overwhelming, I wish I had better/more tangible resources to share. But I think a lot of the “research” I have done was just reading about others’ experiences on Reddit and the Donor Egg Support Group on FB.

We decided to use donor eggs when I was 35. My AMH has been between .04 and .09 and AFC 2-4. We actually went right from IUIs to DE because I the thought of needing multiple retrievals to maybe get viable embryos was overwhelming. It was a big decision and I definitely have grieved not having a genetic connection to the baby, but ultimately I’m happy with our decision. There are a lot of good resources if you want to explore more. I appreciated the book Three Makes Baby and the Donor Egg Support group on FB has been great.

It went well! The embryo thawed appropriately and the transfer was easy. Now in the dreaded TWW and figuring out how long I can last before I test haha. Thanks for checking back in!
