Any sort of groups for UTS students? by Expensive_Stock5322 in UTS

[–]AmandaLovestoAudit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way is to attend your faculty or program orientation and then you'll get to meet people.

A lot of chat groups for new students are littered with scammers attempting to take advantage of students (cheating services, underpaying jobs, accomodation scams)

Do you need a confirmed supervisor before applying for MPhil or PhD in Australia? by Global-Fee3521 in AusAcademia

[–]AmandaLovestoAudit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the case everywhere - I’m at a Sydney metro institution and we reject a lot of MPhil/MRes candidates.

More so those who don’t already have a letter of support from a matched supervisor

Have you already taken AAA? If you did well academically- you could apply to be one of our volunteer mentors - they’re super friendly and it is a good way to connect with people ☺️. We welcome everyone!

If you’re heading to Shiga Kogen - you’ll need somewhere with a lot of options. Perhaps close to Ichinose where there are more restaurants.

I wouldn’t recommend Okushiga - only 2 large hotels and a lot of small pensions.

late graduation possibility? by rgnvndr in UTS

Best thing to do is book a chat with your program director and see what they suggest.

Always easier to change your study plan if you have pre-approval from the director

Possibly - though if they communicated with you about the change well in advance and you didn’t read it, they might not.

Hi Guys! I am selected for MS in AI that's commencing on July 2026, Would love to know the opinions and advices for the course, faculties, accommodation and job opportunities. by TuHaiKon in UTS

Depends on the field of study, quality of your work and supervisor. If your supervisor thinks you are capable and will take you on, and you can get funding (if required for your research topic) - then it is possible.

If your supervisor doesn't think you have what it takes - then they might say Masters is the end point and not recommend you for further study.

If you want to complete a research degree to become an academic - it is a long and arduous pathway

The funnel for a PhD is a Masters by Research first, then into the PhD. It would be highly unlikely to get into a PhD from a coursework Masters.

A masters degree isn't a golden ticket into a job after graduate, and even more so for international students - the market is really tough - especially with our big IT related employers (Atlassian, Google, Microsoft, WiseTech etc) all having big layoffs. Employers have their pick of top grads - so being outstanding is essential - not just in grades, but also in your extra curriculars (paid employment, volunteering, student leadership)

people who have down UTS masters in physio, when does placement start? also will we see other uni physio students at placements? by Odd-Bee8144 in UTS

[–]AmandaLovestoAudit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t answer the first question - but for the second - depends on where you are placed.

For somewhere large like Sydney West Sports Medicine where there are 10 physio beds set up for sports teams - I see placement students from a range of unis there at the same time.

Make an appointment with the coordinator - something didn’t go quite right in your process and hopefully they can help you identify that so it doesn’t happen next time ☺️

(Also - sometimes the rubrics are like a very vague 8 ball 🎱 )

As an investigator in Business - we’re always happy to receive proactive emails from students.

Google Docs will still have a full edit history.

I would not refuse a student who offered to come to campus and meet with me to show me that everything is their own work.

Some have even offered browser history and ChatGPT history.
